Ensley is a sizable urban neighborhood located in Jefferson County, Alabama. It used to be a distinct and prosperous manufacturing city. It was officially incorporated on February 12, 1899, but as part of the “Greater Birmingham” legislation, it was later absorbed into Birmingham on January 1, 1910.

The University of Alabama–Birmingham is located in Birmingham’s hip southern area, which is also home to a ton of fantastic dining, shopping, and entertainment options.

Five Points South

Titusville

Southeast of Ensley and close to the campus of UAB, in Birmingham, Alabama, is a historic area called Titusville. It is focused on 6th Avenue South, which runs between Elmwood Cemetery and downtown Birmingham. It also mentions its connections to Woodland Park, South Titusville, and North Titusville as local communities.

North Birmingham is a neighborhood in Birmingham, Alabama’s Jefferson County. Six communities make up the current division of the North Birmingham community: Acipco-Finley, Collegeville, Fairmont, Harriman Park, Hooper City, and North Birmingham. The region between Village Creek on the south, the Louisville and Nashville Railroad on the east, Pratt on the west, and the jurisdictional boundary on the north makes up the community, which is located north of Downtown Birmingham. It was first formed in 1902 as the city of North Birmingham, and in 1910 it became a part of the City of Birmingham.

Vestavia Hills

Vestavia, Liberty Park, and Cahaba Heights make up Vestavia Hills, a neighborhood in Birmingham. Its population increased from 34,033 in 2010 to 39,102 as of the 2020 census. In Jefferson County, it rose from being the fifth-largest city in 2000 to being the third-largest in 2010, after only Birmingham and Hoover.

Homewood

Here, just south of the city’s center and Mountain Brook and off of Highway 280, are several fantastic restaurants and shopping opportunities. Enjoy the antiques, art galleries, coffee shops, and some of the best clothing in the area as you stroll along 18th Street.

This historic neighborhood, tucked between downtown and Five Points South, is home to numerous fantastic restaurants and nightclubs, particularly along 29th Street South and Seventh Avenue South.

Lakeview District

Mountain Brook

A distinctive, upmarket neighborhood home to the best restaurants, galleries, and antique shops. English Village, Mountain Brook Village, and Crestline are the three settlements in the area. Near the Botanical Gardens and Zoo, all are situated along Cahaba Road.

Highland Park is a distinguished Birmingham neighborhood that has a lot to offer. In 2011, the American Planning Association named Highland Park one of America’s Great Places. The steep, forested area is one of the city’s most diversified neighborhoods and is only a few miles from the Business District.

It is home to roughly 6,000 individuals who reside in fully furnished flats, condos, Victorian mansions, and more modern residences in some of the neighborhood’s more recent constructions. Highland Park offers a vibrant urban vibe that draws a lot of young professionals because of its abundance of pubs, restaurants, and coffee shops.

Parkside

Parkside is a more recent neighborhood with a chic, contemporary feel. The development, which is close to the city’s center, provides easy access to the entire area. Regions Field and Railroad Park are also located in the walkable neighborhood, which is close to the Central Business District, Five Points South, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

About 3,000 individuals live in Crestline, including retirees, families, and young professionals. Though it formally belongs to Mountain Brook, the village is frequently thought of as a separate neighborhood. Many residents are located close to their local grocery store and public schools via strolling.

One of the greatest communities in Birmingham is Red Mountain, which is home to the expansive Red Mountain Park in the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachian region. The neighborhood features some of the most upscale dining and shopping establishments in the city.
