Residents of Hoover are in for a treat as an upscale store dedicated to offering fine wines and specialty meats, Hoover Steaks & Wines, is set to open its doors in late 2024. The store will be conveniently located in the Knox Square development, eliminating the need for residents to travel far for gourmet items.
Hoover Steaks & Wines is the brainchild of five friends, Danielle and Patrick Deavours, David Arnold, Josh Baker, and Tyler Camp, who’ve known each other for over a decade. Recognizing the growing demand for high-quality food offerings in Hoover, the team decided it was the perfect time to make their gourmet store dream a reality.
“We’ve seen a need in Hoover for something like this,” said co-owner Danielle Deavours. “With several exciting developments in Hoover—particularly in the Knox Square area—we felt it was the perfect time to get our dream off the ground.”
Hoover Steaks & Wines aims to provide a unique shopping experience for food and wine enthusiasts, offering a variety of high-end specialty meats, seafood, fine wines, and gourmet side dishes. Top-quality items flying in from various places will stock the shelves — from Alabama Gulf’s fresh seafood to Maine lobster.
The store equally aims to become Hoover residents’ go-to wine source by providing an extensive selection of fine wines. Furthermore, three of the owners are currently undergoing level one WSET certification to provide expertise in wine selection and pairing, along with handling the store’s meat and seafood offerings.
Adding to the lineup of gourmet treats is the inclusion of Heath Ray as the executive chef. Known as one of the primary chefs for Whole Foods in Hoover, Ray brings a wealth of culinary experience to Hoover Steaks & Wines.
Beyond serving as a specialty store, Hoover Steaks & Wines will have an event space and patio ready for tastings, pairings, tailgates for Hoover Buccs, and community fundraisers.
Hoover Steaks & Wines is anticipated to open its doors in October 2024, assuming construction runs smoothly. The store will be located in a new building within the Knox Square development, close to notable landmarks such as the Hoover Met and Brock’s Gap Brewing Co.
Despite the announcement being made recently, the support from the local community has been strong and encouraging. “We announced the opening yesterday, and the outpouring of love and support from the community has already been so strong,” remarked Danielle.
