Vulcan’s 120th Birthday Bash set for June 2

The city of Birmingham, Alabama is abuzz with excitement as it gears up for a colossal celebration. The 120th birthday of the Vulcan statue, a beloved Harbinger of Birmingham, is being marked with a vibrant bash that will take place on Sunday, June 2, from noon to 4 p.m.

The birthday festivities will be taking place in the heart of the city, the famed Vulcan Park. Inviting people from all walks of life, the park will be filled with live music, performances, food and beverages, artistic displays and a host of fun-filled activities for everyone.

The Fungis band is scheduled to present a live music performance, adding to the festive mood, while the alluring performances by local entertainment group Magic City Disco will keep attendees entertained throughout the event.

Food, Beverages, and Giveaways

In addition to the cultural feast, a variety of food trucks, including Burney’s Mean Greenz, Jeremiah’s Italian Ice of Vestavia Hills, D’s Crazy Dogs, and The Recipe are set to make an appearance. They will cater to the appetites of guests with their mouthwatering cuisine. Items for purchase will cover a range of tastes, from hearty meals to refreshing beverages. Adults aged 21 and up can also enjoy a selection of beer and wine.

On top of that, the first 120 guests will be the lucky recipients of a special Vulcan favor swag bag. These delightful gifts will include a coupon for free ice cream from Jenni’s Splendid Ice Cream, and Fanta provided by Birmingham Coca-Cola Bottling Co.

Interactive demonstrations and interactive activities

The event will be more than just a spectacle – attendees will also have the chance to engage in a range of interactive activities. The NASCAR pace car will be present for display and photo opportunities along with special guest appearances from the Magic City Mermaid, Vesta and the star attraction itself, ‘The Big Guy’.

Adding to the multi-faceted entertainment, Sloss Furnaces’ metal artists will be demonstrating the fascinating process of iron pouring. This will be complemented by a marketplace where more than 20 local artists and crafters will be showcasing and selling their unique, handmade goods.

Fun-filled activities such as face painting, moonwalk, misting tent, and an array of giveaways will ensure there’s something for everyone at this grand celebration.
