BCM expressly calls out to individuals who are enthusiastic about sharing the love for outdoors with the coming generations. The organization values all forms of backpacking experience, along with any history of working with young people. They are also searching for instructors who are open to obtaining their Wilderness First Responder Certification.
Volunteers working with BCM will have the opportunity to lead young people, ranging in age from 12 to 18, on a series of three diverse outings including: a day hike, a front-country camping trip, and a week-long expedition (lasting between 5 to 7 days). These thrilling experiences are planned to take place between April and June, in various locations within and around Birmingham.
The association encourages interested individuals to participate in the whole series (day hike, camping trip, and expedition) to foster stronger relationships with the youth beneficiaries of the programme. BCM is still accepting applications for trail and packing volunteers until March 15.
