Vestavia Hills Celebrates New Ace Hardware Store Set to Open by Spring 2025

Vestavia Hills Welcomes New Hardware Store

Vestavia Hills is gearing up for some exciting changes, as a new hardware store is set to take root in the heart of the community. DALK Land LP recently purchased a 1.08-acre outparcel located at 600 Old Town Road for $585,000. This space, which sits adjacent to Chuck E. Cheese, was previously home to Ichiban, a restaurant that was lost to a fire back in 2016.

Construction Set to Begin Soon

Plans are already in motion for the construction of a 10,000-square-foot Ace Hardware store, a welcome addition to the local retail landscape. The Retail Companies, the firm representing DALK Land LP, will not only facilitate the construction process but also manage the development project. Residents can expect to see the new Ace Hardware open its doors by spring 2025.

Community Benefits

Brooks Corr, a partner at The Retail Companies, expressed enthusiasm over the addition. “We are thrilled to help bring Ace Hardware to Vestavia Hills,” Corr noted. He emphasized that the new store will serve as a trusted source for local residents and businesses in need of home improvement products and services. With the area having remained largely unused since the fire at Ichiban, the new development is viewed as a valuable opportunity for the community.

Further Developments in Retail

This hardware store project is part of a wave of retail developments in Vestavia Hills. Just this month, The Retail Companies successfully brokered another significant transaction—the $9.2 million sale of Vestavia Hills Commons, a fully leased shopping center. As a result of this deal, the popular tenant Picklr is set to take over the former Sprouts location.

Bill Clements, a partner at The Retail Companies, shared his optimism regarding the Vestavia Hills Commons project. “We are thrilled to have completed this sale and excited about the future of Vestavia Hills Commons,” Clements remarked. He noted that securing a lease buyout with Sprouts and bringing in Picklr injects new value into the shopping center and benefits the surrounding community.

City’s Involvement

Earlier this year, the Vestavia Hills city government approved an incentive package related to the Sprouts property, which had remained vacant since the grocery store’s closure in December 2018. Despite interest from Myrtle Beach-based entertainment and restaurant concept 810 Billiards & Bowling, plans for that property did not come to fruition.

This project is part of a public-private partnership with the city and the private development group Altera AIP-Vestavia, demonstrating a commitment to revitalizing key areas within the city.

A Bright Future for Vestavia Hills

The Ace Hardware store is not just a standalone project; it symbolizes the ongoing efforts to enhance retail offerings in Vestavia Hills. As the community looks forward to the arrival of more options in shopping and services, the new hardware store arrives as a beacon of hope, promising to meet the needs of both residents and businesses. With the efforts of local brokers and city officials, this area is on its way to becoming a thriving hub for retail activity.

Stay tuned for more updates as construction progresses and the opening date approaches!
