The city of Hoover shone brightly in the glamour of the Miss Hoover 2025 and Miss Hoover’s Teen 2025 competition on Friday night at the Hoover Public Library Theatre. The stage bore witness to a splendid display of talent, fitness, passion for community service, and gorgeous evening gowns.
Emma Terry, a senior accounting/finance major at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, was triumphantly crowned Miss Hoover 2025. The Leeds native had previous titles of Miss Jefferson County 2024 under her sash and had won first runner-up in Miss Alabama 2024.
Terry was a part of 10 contestants, ages 18 to 27, who were judged based on various categories namely, a private interview (making up 30% of their score), talent (20%), evening gown walk (20%), health and fitness walk (20%) and an on-stage question (10%). For her talent, she performed a jazzified version of ballet en pointe to “Sing, Sing, Sing” by Louis Prima, which mesmerized the audience.
Miss Hoover’s Teen 2025 title was claimed by Christina Norman, a junior at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. Norman, a Hoover native, previously held the title of Miss Leeds Area’s Teen 2024. The judging process for the eight girls, ages 14 to 17, was similar to that of the Miss Hoover competition. Norman, who has been honing her dancing skills since the tender age of two, stunned everyone with a ballet en pointe performance to “Don Quixote Act II, Kitri Variation”.
Terry founded her initiative called Stomping Out ALS One Step at a Time, inspired by her grandfather’s battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), who tragically passed away this past April. Having witnessed the disease’s relentless nature, she desires to provide support and advocate for ALS at a national level.
Norman shared a personal journey during her on-stage interaction. She opened up about her younger brother, who has Down syndrome, and how it inspired her to advocate for individuals with the same condition. She is committed to continuing to raise awareness and work actively for this cause.
The first runner-up for Miss Hoover was Marissa Luna, followed by Jayla Duncan as second runner-up, Katherine Grigsby as third runner-up, and Anna Grace Deason as the fourth runner-up. In the Miss Hoover’s Teen category, Megan Kent bagged the first runner-up position, with Charlee Reid as second runner-up, and Allie Grace Broadhead named as third runner-up. The event also recognized the 2024 Rising Stars, girls aged 7 to 11.
Proud winner Terry was awarded a $5,000 scholarship plus an opportunity to compete in Miss Alabama in 2025 summer. Norman earned a $1,000 scholarship and a chance to compete in Miss Alabama’s Teen in March 2025, both scholarships being the largest ones awarded in a statewide preliminary.
The winners will also receive discounts and gift certificates from local businesses, and $2,000 for travel and accommodations for state competitions, as a token of recognition and appreciation for their efforts.
The event was emceed by Miss Alabama 2024 Abbie Stockard, last year’s Miss Hoover, and Miss Alabama’s Teen 2024 Ali Mims, last year’s Miss Hoover’s Teen. Both stepped back into the limelight with a dazzling song and dance performance to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again,” which set the beautiful opera night theme for the evening.
