Exciting changes are happening in the heart of Birmingham as local entrepreneur Wink Benny takes the reins at the TruBlue Home Service franchise. After a two-year search for the perfect business opportunity, he’s ready to make a mark in the community, and he couldn’t be more thrilled about it.
Wink previously worked as a corporate consultant, helping businesses streamline operations and achieve their goals. But when the opportunity arose to take over TruBlue’s Birmingham location this past summer, he immediately felt a connection. “I just knew it was the right fit,” he stated with enthusiasm.
TruBlue, based in Ohio, is more than just a handyman service—it’s a company dedicated to assisting seniors who wish to remain in their homes while providing support for necessary maintenance and repairs. With over 20 locations across the Southeast, this Birmingham franchise is the only one in Alabama and has already been serving locals for three years.
Wink explained that TruBlue’s mission resonates with his own values, particularly their focus on “aging in place.” This segment of the population, which often requires extra help around the house, has found a reliable partner in TruBlue. “They have a real interest in what’s called ‘aging in place,’ which is a segment of the population that … need more assistance and need a company they can rely on,” he noted.
What exactly does TruBlue offer? Their services cover a myriad of needs, including handyman projects, preventative home maintenance programs, kitchen and bath remodels, seasonal work, and even senior modification services. No matter the project, TruBlue aims to help seniors live comfortably in their own homes.
With his new role, Wink sees a bright future ahead. Over the next six to twelve months, he aims to double TruBlue Birmingham’s handyman staff to ensure they can meet the growing demand for home maintenance services. But that’s not all; he’s also focused on ramping up marketing efforts so that even more residents in Birmingham learn about the helpful services available right in their neighborhoods.
TruBlue Birmingham offers flexibility that’s hard to beat. Customers can either schedule individual appointments with a two-hour minimum or sign up for a home maintenance subscription service. The subscription service includes four home checks each year, breaking down the costs into manageable monthly payments. Wink mentioned that many of their customers come via referrals. “Repeat customers and customer referrals are the most of our business for sure,” he emphasized.
Wink is particularly focused on ensuring quality in every job. He mentioned areas like Mountain Brook, Homewood, and Vestavia Hills as hotspots for their services, and he insists on using top-notch materials for every project. “I want us to make sure we’re putting in good quality products and materials so that they’re happy with it as long as possible,” he said. “And then we can be there for them as things come home and home repairs are needed.”
Not only is TruBlue dedicated to serving the senior community, but they also collaborate with the Disability Rights and Resources Group to provide home maintenance services for individuals with disabilities. This commitment expands their reach and demonstrates a heart for all Birmingham residents who might need a little extra help.
With Wink at the helm, Birmingham’s TruBlue Home Service franchise is poised for a big future. If you or someone you know could benefit from some handyman support, look no further—this local business is ready to help you keep your home in tip-top shape!
