Trader Joe’s to Open New Location in Hoover, Creating Up to 50 Jobs by 2025

Trader Joe’s Set to Open Second Location in Hoover!

Big news, Hoover! A new Trader Joe’s grocery store is coming our way, and it’s already got everyone buzzing! Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato revealed that this exciting development is happening at 1771 Montgomery Highway, right in the space formerly occupied by Bed, Bath & Beyond. The store is slated to open its doors sometime in 2025, bringing along a handful of new job opportunities—between 35 and 50 jobs to be exact!

Working Hard for Hoover

How did we get here? Well, as Mayor Brocato mentioned in his recent post, the city has been actively working with the grocery chain’s owner for several months. They’ve been busy negotiating an incentive package to make sure Trader Joe’s chooses Hoover for its new location. According to Melanie Posey-Joseph, the city’s public information officer, the shopping center owner plans to invest over $11 million into renovations to get the store ready for its debut. That’s a hefty investment (and an exciting one) for our community!

The details get even more fascinating! The Hoover City Council recently approved a sales tax sharing agreement with the shopping center owner. This agreement means that sales tax revenue will be split 50-50 between the city and the owner for up to ten years—or until the store rakes in $1.7 million in revenue. That’s a smart move for keeping Hoover thriving!

Trader Joe’s in the Metro Area

Now, you might be wondering how this store fits into the bigger picture. Trader Joe’s already has a location in the Summit, at 205 Summit Boulevard, which has been serving up its charming vibe since October 2015. This spot was the very first Trader Joe’s in Alabama! Then, there’s the Huntsville location, which opened in October 2020 in a mixed-use development that sprang up where Madison Square Mall used to be. So, Hoover, get ready to join the Trader Joe’s family!

Hoover’s Growing Business Scene

But that’s not all, dear readers! Hoover has been experiencing an exciting wave of changes in its business landscape. Just recently, a new Chinese-inspired restaurant called Chengdu Cuisine made its debut. Located at 1550 Montgomery Highway, Suite O, this gem replaces the former Mandarin House Chinese Restaurant. Owner Leo Li has spent years perfecting his craft in both Alabama and New York City, and he brings dishes bursting with flavors from the Sichuan province—get ready for the spice and garlic!

On top of that, we also have a new boutique in the mix! The Clotherie Boutique has opened a second location, thanks to the dynamic duo of mother and daughter, Dee and Rachel Hoagland. Their new shop is perched at 450 Inverness Corners, right off U.S. Highway 280, and it’s already creating a buzz among fashion lovers!

More New Faces in Hoover

And there’s more! The Family Medical Supply Store has moved its operation from Vestavia Hills to Hoover at 3205 Lorna Road, Suite 102. This new location opened its doors just a few days ago, on October 1. Spanning a spacious 2,100 square feet, this store has been around for five years, offering everything from wheelchairs to CPAP machines for all your health and medical supply needs.

Wrapping It Up

With Trader Joe’s joining the Hoover family along with new restaurants and boutiques sprouting up, it seems like there’s never been a better time to call Hoover home! Get ready to explore the vibrant changes in your community and enjoy the new shopping and dining experiences on the horizon!
