Hoover’s Tattersall Park Development Sparks Community Debate

Open House Event Scheduled to Discuss New Village Center

In the heart of Tattersall Park, Hoover, Alabama, big plans are brewing! Ebsco Industries and Corporate Realty are proposing a new multi-use development that could transform over 33 acres of undeveloped land. This ambitious project, known as the Tattersall Park Village Center, aims to bring in a mix of residential and commercial options, including more than 300 multi-family units, a hotel, and a smattering of retail and restaurant spaces.

To give residents a first-hand look at their plans, Ebsco and Corporate Realty are hosting an open house on Monday, November 4, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Double Oak Community Church in nearby Mt. Laurel. It’s a friendly, come-and-go style event, perfect for anyone wanting to hear more about what’s on the table while mingling with the developers. Residents will be able to check out development proposals on display boards and chat with representatives directly about their concerns and ideas for the property.

What’s in the Proposal?

The developers are looking to create a vibrant community space with up to 170 senior adult multi-family housing units, along with an additional 137.5 multi-family units geared towards various demographics. They also plan to build a hotel with up to 125 rooms and around 45,000 square feet of climate-controlled commercial space, which could include restaurants and retail shops.

According to the project plans, this development would be strategically located between the Publix supermarket and the Pet Paradise facility on the east side of Tattersall Boulevard. Sounds like a convenient setup for residents and visitors alike!

Local Opinions Divide

However, not everyone is on board with these plans, and the air is thick with concern among some community members. A whopping 2,100 residents from Greystone, Brook Highland, and surrounding neighborhoods have signed a petition against the proposal, stating their preference for the land to remain designated for commercial use rather than residential housing. This sentiment was echoed in a recent survey where residents expressed their desire for fewer housing developments in the area.

The Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing on October 14 to gather input from locals, but they ultimately decided to table the discussion. This gives developers more time to engage with concerned residents and address their worries about the project’s impact on the community.

The zoning board is scheduled to revisit the case on November 12, and many locals will be watching closely to see how their input is taken into account.

Future Community Insights

For those interested in what the residential offerings might look like, Ebsco’s proposed senior adult multi-family housing units could be similar to the Arise multi-family housing units found in the Knox Square area of Trace Crossings, conveniently located across from the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.

And there’s more! An open house for the Arise community is planned for Friday, November 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event would offer a closer look at how multi-family housing could enrich the area, giving attendees a real feel for Ebsco’s vision.

The Future of Tattersall Park

Tattersall Park Village Center could bring exciting changes to Hoover, but the conversation is far from over. As the community weighs the benefits against their concerns, it will be fascinating to see how this development unfolds and what it could mean for the residents of Hoover.

Stay tuned, Hoover! Your voices matter as this project continues to develop, and the future of Tattersall Park could be right around the corner!
