In a recent announcement, TechBirmingham confirmed that Sloss Tech, hailed as the Southeast’s leading tech conference, will make a much-anticipated return to downtown Birmingham later this year.
Sloss Tech was officially launched in 2015 and has grown into an annual, two-day tech conference held in the heart of The Magic City. Every year, technology enthusiasts gather at this event for networking, peer learning, and to hear from inspiring keynote speakers. Prominent personalities that have graced the Sloss Tech podium in the past include Cameo co-founder Devon Townsend, esteemed entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk, Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian, and tech marketing executive Bozoma Saint John, among others.
The conference is a creation of TechBirmingham, a community oriented towards technology that aspires to establish Birmingham as the most innovative and inclusive technology ecosystem in the Southern region.
“Sloss Tech is an economic driver for the City of Birmingham, bringing attendees and speakers from around the United States to experience our ecosystem—but more than that—it’s an incredible showcase of talent, innovation, and startup support,” stated Maria Underwood, Birmingham Bound President and current Chairwoman of the TechBirmingham Board of Directors.
After being on hiatus for several years due to the pandemic, Sloss Tech was revived in 2023 with the City of Birmingham serving as its community partner.
In this year’s conference, Sloss Tech will extend its array of programming during the two-day event. Attendees can anticipate:
Similar to the successful event in 2023, the historical Lyric Theatre will again serve as the central hub for Sloss Tech in 2024. Supplementary venues, like the Sidewalk Film Center and Cinema, will be used for breakout sessions and unique satellite experiences.
A limited batch of early bird tickets will be released for sale on March 1st and can be obtained directly from Sloss Tech’s official website. Upon the announcement of the 2024 speakers and schedules on April 1, ticket prices are subject to increase.
Those planning to participate in Sloss Tech in Birmingham later this year should look forward to an enriching endeavor. The conference undoubtedly spells a significant boost for the city’s economy by attracting technology enthusiasts and experts from all over the country, thereby further enhancing Birmingham’s role as a leading player in the tech ecosystem.
As Sloss Tech returns to Birmingham, the city stands to gain not only economically, but also technologically. The conference offers a platform to learn, network, and innovate, making it a must-attend event for tech enthusiasts, startups, and businesses alike. Bloomfield is looking forward to greeting its guests and showcasing its strength in talent, innovation, and startup support in the tech arena.
