New Phenix Salon Suites Set to Open in Birmingham and Vestavia, Expanding Opportunities for Salon Professionals

New Salon Suites Coming to Birmingham and Vestavia

Two new Phenix Salon Suites are set to open in Birmingham and Vestavia, expanding options for salon and lifestyle professionals in the area. This exciting development is spearheaded by Dennis Daughety, a local franchisee who already operates three locations across Alabama.

Location Details

The announced locations include:

  • 624 Montgomery Highway in Vestavia
  • 3411 Colonnade Parkway, Suite 400 in Birmingham

According to Daughety, these new suites are expected to open within the next four to six months after completing renovations. “These two locations make a lot of sense for my Birmingham portfolio because I have two nearby locations, City Center and Patchwork Farms, that stay full,” Daughety explained. “Since I don’t have room to put additional salon professionals, these locations will be able to satisfy the demand that I have had to turn away in the past.”

Increased Capacity for Salon Professionals

The addition of these two new locations will provide more opportunities for salon professionals looking to establish their businesses. Currently, dozens of salon professionals rent suites at the existing Vestavia locations and in Hoover. The expansion aims to accommodate the growing interest in salon suites and enhance the overall capacity.

Daughety shared, “The most rewarding part of this business is seeing a salon professional move from an employee mentality to that of an independent business owner.” This transition is a core feature of the Phenix Salon Suites model, allowing professionals to open their own independent salons with the support of the franchise.

A Unique Business Model

Phenix Salon Suites operates as a “boutique salon suite concept,” which offers salon and lifestyle professionals the affordability needed to start their own ventures. The franchise supplies the necessary equipment and space, while professionals pay a weekly rent fee in exchange for their suites, minimizing the start-up costs typically associated with establishing a new salon.

Additionally, Phenix manages the facility, taking care of maintenance and overall management, which allows salon owners to focus more on their clients and services rather than administrative duties.

Franchise Growth

Founded in 2007 by Jason and Gina Rivera, Phenix Salon Suites has expanded rapidly, now boasting locations in 34 states as well as the United Kingdom. In Alabama, besides the soon-to-open sites in Birmingham and Vestavia, the company operates a location in Hoover and three others in Tuscaloosa, Huntsville, and Mobile.

The investment to become a franchisee varies significantly, with an initial franchise fee of $52,500 and total investment costs ranging from approximately $740,977 to $1.96 million, according to the company’s website. Daughety stated, “Given that the cost and investment to develop is steep, when the opportunity came to buy-in to each location – I jumped right at it.”

He added, “While I’ll still have to spend close to a quarter of a million to convert these two locations to Phenix Salon Suites, it is only about a quarter of what I would have to spend to develop two new locations, providing for a nice investment that allows me to diversify my portfolio and continue to grow with the Phenix brand.”

Looking Ahead

This development reflects not only the growth of the Phenix Salon Suites franchise but also an overall positive trend in the salon industry across the region. As Daughety works toward opening these new locations, many local salon professionals and aspiring business owners are likely looking forward to the increased opportunities for entrepreneurship in their community.
