Your Opportunity To Support Families in Need
Families undergoing medical crises know the importance of closeness. For many of these families, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama (RMHCA) serves as a beacon of hope during their difficult time. On April 1st, the annual Red Shoe Run: Rockin’ 5K was announced to take place on April 13 at 8 AM, giving individuals an opportunity to support these families in fiscal and moral ways.
A Fundraiser for a Worthy Cause
The Red Shoe Run: Rockin’ 5K is an occasion for celebration, awareness generation, and fundraising for the RMHCA. The family-friendly, inclusive event raised approximately $80,000 last year. All funds accumulated go towards supporting the RMHCA in providing free services to those in need. This year, participants can choose between a 5K and a 1-mile fun run. There’s even a “Snoozer” option for those who wish to donate but prefer to sleep in on the day of the event. Participants are even encouraged to dress up for added fun.
Spotlight: The Adams Family
Meet the Adams family. Baylee Adams, in her interview, shared how the RMHCA became a lifeline when her twins were born prematurely at 24 weeks. The house’s immeasurable support was particularly pivotal when one of her twins, Amos, tragically passed away. Baylee emotes, “We had been at the hospital for about 10 minutes and he passed away. Had we not been staying at the Ronald McDonald House, we would have never been there in time and would have missed being there in his last few minutes.” Now the Adams family actively participates in the Red Shoe Run: Rockin’ 5K, raising funds,-showing support for RMHCA, and memorializing their sons, Amos and Anderson.
Connect A Community
The Adams family’s story is just one of many. The event serves to create a community that supports each other during the worst of times. Baylee Adams lauds the event’s impact by saying, “The Red Shoe Run is a fun way for the community to gather, show support for the Ronald McDonald House, and help raise money so that families can stay close together.”
A Ray of Hope
Speaking of the pivotal role that Ronald McDonald House plays in difficult times, Baylee adds, “The Ronald McDonald House goes above and beyond to be there for families during hard times. It’s a community that you can’t beat. During the worst times in your life, they are a ray of sunshine.”
Action Matters
Given the community spirit and cause fostered by the event, interested individuals can register to run or volunteer for the Red Shoe Run: Rockin’ 5K on Saturday, April 13. This is a chance not only to have fun but more importantly, to make a significant contribution in the lives of families grappling with medical crises.
