BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In a dramatic sequence of events unfolding in the early hours of Sunday, the Birmingham law enforcement officials successfully ended a high-speed chase, which saw a stolen vehicle being pursued through I-59 and I-459. One person has been detained for questioning following the chase which ended in Hoover.
Around 3 a.m. near Center Street N. and 4th Court, the Birmingham Police personnel observed a vehicle which had previously been reported stolen. The officers on patrol attempted to halt the vehicle. However, the driver of the purportedly stolen car refused to stop, leading to the initiation of a chase.
According to sources within the Birmingham Police Department (BPD), the vehicle entered I-59 NB near Trussville, before continuing on to I-459. The high-speed chase eventually ended in the 2100 block of Blue Ridge Road, located in Hoover.
The authorities from BPD have reported that there were multiple suspects in the vehicle at the time it was intercepted, all of whom attempted to flee the scene as the vehicle was stopped.
One individual, believed to be significantly involved in the case, was successfully detained by the police for further questioning. As the investigation continues, the police are eager to identify and apprehenend the remaining suspects who fled the scene.
