In 2019, Nicole Roby, a Birmingham native, set out to transform spaces with her interior design business. The success she found working on a variety of projects, ranging from luxury homes to international tech companies, didn’t quench her desire to expand her reach. Thus, in the autumn of 2023, Rome Curate was born.
A luxury lifestyle brand offering an array of custom-made home furnishings, decor, skincare, fashion accessories, art, and photography, Rome Curate is Nicole’s latest venture to help clients curate the home of their dreams.
Nicole’s vision for Rome Curate was to encompass various aspects of a home while maintaining the bond with her community. “Furniture and home decor are our bread and butter, but we started doing these warehouse events because I want to be able to have a relationship with the community. That’s always been important to me,” she explains.
Part of what sets Rome Curate apart from other home decor companies is Nicole’s commitment to offering ‘more than just furniture.’ For Nicole, it’s about steadying the balance between luxury and local, between offering timeless pieces and fostering relationships with her customers. Rome Curate also hosts monthly warehouse events to offer special deals and gently used furniture, making it accessible to a more extensive clientele while maintaining its luxury brand status.
Nicole has some advice for anyone struggling with decorating their home. Her key tip is to start with a foundational piece and build upon it. “Timelessness is important to me. So, I would recommend starting slow. You don’t have to redo a whole room. Start out with one nice, foundational, timeless piece, and then we can build from there.”
With continuous growth on the cards, Rome Curate is preparing to launch its headboard and upholstered bed program in early fall. Specializing in North Carolina-made beds, the program aims to alter the vibe of a bedroom without a comprehensive makeover. Nicole wraps up, “With that, we are also adding a slew of bedding ensembles and pillows that you can accessorize with the bed program.”
Born to a mother in the industry and a love for fashion, Nicole Roby is a mom of three and an avid binge-watcher of TV shows. When asked about her favorite places to shop, Nicole’s loves include Children’s Edit for her children’s clothing and Le Weekend for spoiling herself. She’s a fan of local restaurants like La Fresca and enjoys golfing and fishing with her family during her downtime.
As she continues to grow her business while juggling family life, Nicole maintains that hard work truly does pay off. From transforming spaces with her interior design business to creating Rome Curate, she certainly proves that with dedication, anything is possible.
