Hey there, Birmingham! It’s that time of year again when the holiday spirit fills the air, and we couldn’t be more excited to share a plethora of news buzzing around town! From the scent of fresh Christmas trees to shiny new shops, Birmingham’s landscape is changing, and it’s all happening right now.
If you’re in the market for a beautiful Christmas tree, your search ends at Lloyd’s Tree Lot on U.S. 280. This amazing spot has just kicked off its 33rd year of spreading holiday cheer. The trees, all Fraser firs, make their long journey from their roots in the lush forests of Boone, NC, right here to Alabama! You’ll find trees of every size, plus stunning freshly cut wreaths and gorgeous garlands.
In an unexpected twist, Lloyd’s Tree Lot had to set up their iconic red-and-white striped tent at 6930 Cahaba Valley Road this year because of the previous spot’s closure. But no worries, everything is ready to go! The family behind the lot, the Daniels family, are there to help carry, cut, trim, and load your chosen tree right onto your vehicle. Stop by from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and make your holidays a little brighter!
Birmingham shoppers, rejoice! A charming new boutique, The Clotherie, has opened its doors in the Inverness Corners shopping center. This is their second location, and if you’re in need of some fashionable clothing, shoes, or accessories, you’ve struck gold! With a fantastic selection of jewelry and more, you could spend the whole day getting your wardrobe revamped. The Clotherie is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
In a big win for families and outdoor enthusiasts, Academy Sports + Outdoors has opened its 16th store in Alabama at River Ridge Shopping Center on U.S. 280! This spacious store is packed with everything you need for your next outdoor adventure, whether it’s camping, hiking, or just enjoying time in the backyard. Swing by during their hours: Sunday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Switching gears to the business world, there are some noteworthy changes happening at Regions Bank. After over 40 years in the game, Ronnie Smith, head of the corporate banking group, is set to retire at year’s end. Taking the reins will be Brian Willman, who has stepped up from head of commercial banking. Meanwhile, Nikki Stephenson will be elevated to take over Willman’s previous position. It’s a big transition for the team, and we wish them all the best!
Let’s also talk about food! If you’re a fan of delicious Indian cuisine, check out Saffron, which just celebrated its first delicious year in The Terrace at Greystone. Dine in or take out, you’ll want to savor their mouth-watering dishes!
Diversifying our dining scene even further is Taco Mama, which recently marked 13 amazing years operating in our community! Their casual vibe and custom taco creations are guaranteed to tickle your taste buds!
Over at The Summit, several stores are celebrating anniversaries as well! Frances Valentine, Johnny Was, and Pandora are all marking their two-year milestones with exciting styles and products that you won’t want to miss!
With new businesses opening, beloved classics sticking around, and big changes happening in the banking sector, Birmingham is buzzing with activity. So whether you’re a long-time local or just passing through, there’s no better time to explore all the wonderful things our city has to offer this holiday season. Happy shopping, and here’s to a fantastic festive month ahead!
