Blank Space Bham Installs New Mural near City Walk
Birmingham has once again become a vibrant canvas for local artists. Blank Space Bham, a well-known muralist group, has installed a massive new mural near City Walk. The brightly hued artwork has been turning heads and sparking conversations since it adorned the side of the Sheraton Hotel.
An Ode to Infinite Love
The stunning mural, measuring an impressive 3,200 sq. ft. was conceived and executed by local muralist and Blank Space Bham founder Meghan McCollum, along with her creative team including Mary Grace Tracy and Jonathan Evans.
Titled “Infinite Love”, the mural features symbolic elements that pay tribute to McCollum’s mother. Drawing from personal memories and sentimental value, it showcases motifs such as butterflies which stand for Meghan and her ‘butterfly’ sisters, and tulips symbolizing the joyful time they collectively spent gardening. Mural Emerges During Sheraton Hotel Renovation
The creation of this artwork was initiated during the recent renovation of the Sheraton Hotel lobby. The block of doors outside the hotel, which faced City Walk, presented the perfect blank canvas that could be transformed into a vibrant mural.
Given the proximity of Blank Space Bham’s previous projects to City Walk, the founder Meghan McCollum came to mind when the hotel was in the planning stages of a renovation. McCollum and her team rose to the challenge magnificently, transforming the entire area into a kaleidoscopic spectacle that beautifully enlivens the entire BJCC campus where the Sheraton Hotel stands.
