Mountain Brook Welcomes Paws and Fun at Birmingham’s Upcoming “Hot” Dog Contest

Mountain Brook Gears Up for Birmingham’s “Hot” Dog Contest

This Sunday, November 10, 2024, Mountain Brook will come alive with the barks and howls of our four-legged friends, as The Animal League of Birmingham presents its highly anticipated “Hot” Dog Contest. The event will take place at the popular Avondale Brewery, located at 201 41st Street South, and promises to be a fun-filled day for families and dog lovers alike.

Fun for All Ages

The festivities kick off at noon, with registration for contestants starting promptly. Dog owners are encouraged to register their furry companions early to secure a spot in the competition, which officially begins at 2 PM. This year’s contest will not only crown the Overall Winner and the People’s Choice for 2024 but will also highlight several other engaging categories. Dogs will have a chance to compete for honors in categories such as Cutest Couple/Family/Group, “Rascliest” Rescue, Dressed to Impress, Sassiest Senior (7 years and up), Most Squeezable Puppy (4-12 months), Best Fur Do, and Most Captivating.

A Flavorful Experience

Attendees can look forward to a lively atmosphere filled with community spirit. Alongside the dog contest, Avondale Brewery will have a food truck on-site to provide lunch options, while sweet treats will also be available to round out the culinary experience. For the canine competitors, there will even be a special doggy dessert to ensure their day is just as sweet.

Community and Support

The event is more than just a competition; it’s also about supporting a noble cause. The Animal League of Birmingham, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, focuses on raising funds for local rescues, shelters, and animals in need throughout Birmingham and its surrounding areas. By participating in the contest or simply enjoying the event, community members can contribute to the welfare of pets while having a great time.

Entertainment and Prizes

In addition to the competition, families will be treated to a performance by Three Dimensional Dog Training, which promises to add an entertaining educational aspect to the day. Furthermore, winners will receive some exciting prizes, including goodies from Hollywood Feed along with ribbons, trophies, and a special swag bag for all contestants.

Local Vendors and Christmas Shopping

Local vendors will also be present, offering an opportunity for attendees to do a bit of Christmas shopping. With a variety of items catering to pets and their owners, it’s a perfect chance to find unique gifts for the upcoming holiday season. Plus, several local rescue groups will have booths set up to share information about adoption and fostering, further enriching the community aspect of the event.

Whether you’re a dog owner looking to show off your best friend or just someone who enjoys a good community event, the “Hot” Dog Contest at Avondale Brewery is poised to be the highlight of the weekend.
