Community Farewell Event
Mountain Brook, AL – Local favorite, MELT, is bidding farewell to its Lane Parke location, with the last day of service set for October 26, 2024. After nearly ten years of serving up delicious eats, the decision comes as the restaurant shifts focus to franchising and expanding their event space at Pepper Place.
Having originally launched as a food truck in 2012, MELT transitioned into a brick-and-mortar establishment in Avondale before moving to the heart of Mountain Brook Village in January 2023. Addressing their loyal customers, the owners expressed mixed emotions about the upcoming closure.
In an emotional post on Instagram, MELT said, “It is with mixed emotions and very heavy hearts we announce that MELT Lane Parke will be closing.” The heartfelt message also showered gratitude to patrons who have lingered over their gourmet grilled cheese and sandwiches for years. “Many of you have gone from customers to dear friends,” they highlighted.
The co-owners, Paget Pizitz and Harriet Reis, emphasized their thankfulness not only for the loyal customer base but also for their dedicated staff. Many employees have been with MELT since its early days, creating a close-knit environment that the owners fondly refer to as family.
As the community gears up for the last month of service at Lane Parke, MELT encourages patrons to visit and share their favorite memories. The owners are hopeful that the final days will be filled with “smiling faces” as they toast to a decade of memories.
Though the Lane Parke location is closing, MELT remains loyal to their patrons, assuring them that their Hoover, Auburn, and Huntsville locations are still open for business. Additionally, the owners have launched a new event venue called The Sage, located in the historic Architectural Heritage building at 200 28th Street South, near popular spots like Ovenbird and Billy Reid.
Reis and Pizitz have expressed excitement about the new chapter, stating, “We have decided to move away from the day-to-day operations and focus on franchising and our event space.” With this shift, they aim to expand MELT’s footprint while continuing to serve the community in new and exciting ways.
In a sentiment that echoes the restaurant’s journey, they remain grateful for the unwavering support they’ve received over the years. “We could not have done any of this without your unwavering support.” As October approaches, the countdown begins for this community staple’s farewell to Lane Parke.
For those eager to reminisce and support MELT in their final month, a visit before October 26 is highly encouraged. In the spirit of celebrating community, patrons are prompted to share their favorite memories on social media, giving MELT a heartfelt send-off as they step into their exciting future.
