Max On Demand, Birmingham’s Affordable Rideshare Program, Expands Availability Once Again

Max On Demand, the reliable and affordable rideshare program based in Birmingham, recently unveiled its latest round of expansion plans. The program, which is akin to popular ridesharing services Uber and Lyft, previously expanded its service area east from downtown in 2022.

New Areas Introduced to Max On Demand Coverage

The latest expansion, which began on May 20th, includes parts of the Kingston Neighborhood and the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport. The service facilitates scheduling and payment for rides within designated areas around town through the dedicated Max On Demand feature on the Via app (available for both iOS and Android) or by calling 205-236-0768.

Max On Demand: From Origins to Expansion

Max On Demand was established in late 2019, initially serving a 6.7-square-mile section of the city majorly covering UAB, CrossPlex, and City Hall. The scheme has since expanded to include Ascension St. Vincent East, Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, Birmingham Zoo, and the Fountain Heights Recreation Center.

Impacts of the Max On Demand Expansion

The expansion of this invaluable resource is set to provide reliable and affordable transportation where traditional public transit isn’t available. This is not just a boon for residents who rely on these services for daily commutes but also a significant boost for local businesses. The increased access to these establishments promises to foster local hiring opportunities. With improved mobility safety and accessibility, the quality of life for Birmingham’s residents is set to improve considerably.

Max On Demand Availability and Service Hours

Max On Demand runs for six days each week, excluding Sundays. The service operates from Monday through Friday, between 6 am to 11 pm, while on Saturdays, the service runs from 10 am to 11 pm within the city’s center. The nighttime zone is available from 7 pm to 11 pm. The extended east side and airport services run from Monday to Saturday, from 5 am to 9 pm.

The investment and expansion in programs like Max On Demand signify the growing emphasis on mobility solutions in urban spaces. As Birmingham continues to grow and evolve, it will be exciting to see how mobility programs keep pace and continue contributing to the vibrancy and accessibility of the city.
