Magic Moments, a nonprofit organization in Alabama dedicated to granting wishes for children with chronic medical conditions, has appointed Rachel Rounsaville as its new executive director. Taking over from Sandy Naramore, Rachel aims to continue the organization’s impactful work. Under her leadership, Magic Moments plans to enhance its mission, including ‘Beyond the Moment’ events that maintain relationships with families after their wishes are fulfilled. The community’s support plays a crucial role in funding these initiatives, and Rachel is excited about leading the organization into this new chapter.
Exciting news is buzzing through Alabama as Magic Moments, the beloved nonprofit organization that spreads joy to children facing chronic medical conditions, welcomes a new executive director! The organization, which has been granting wishes to kids for a whopping 40 years, is ready to embrace this new chapter under the leadership of Rachel Rounsaville, who officially takes on her role starting January 1.
For those unfamiliar, Magic Moments is all about making dreams come true for children aged 4 to 18 who are battling serious health challenges. Operating across all 67 counties in Alabama, this heartwarming organization has touched the lives of over 5,000 children with its incredible wish-granting initiatives. Whether it’s a trip to a theme park or a special toy, each experience is designed to fill these young warriors with hope and joy.
Previously, Rachel served as the development director for Magic Moments, where she worked passionately to further the organization’s mission. Before that, her dedicated efforts could also be seen at Children’s Harbor and Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church. Following the departure of longtime executive director Sandy Naramore, who led the organization for eight successful years, Rachel is stepping in to carry on the valuable work that has meant so much to countless families.
Magic Moments doesn’t just stop at granting wishes. They enhance the experience with “Beyond the Moment” events that help maintain relationships with families well after their wishes are fulfilled. This continued support truly sets them apart. Typical wishes cost around $4,500, with funding driven by grants and generous donations from community members.
The community plays a vital role in the organization’s success, with local businesses and schools often joining forces to host fundraising events. These grassroots initiatives help create a ripple effect of goodwill throughout Alabama, ensuring that more wishes can be granted each year. In 2024, Magic Moments was thrilled to be among the beneficiaries of the TumTum Tree Foundation’s Charity Wine Auction Weekend, which raised an astounding $1.6 million for children’s charities in the state.
As Rachel steps into her new position, she greets the challenge with enthusiasm and eagerness to contribute to the ongoing legacy of Magic Moments. The board chair, Jane Huston Crommelin, has voiced strong confidence in Rachel, believing that she will effectively guide the organization into this bright new chapter.
For anyone interested in supporting this fantastic organization, now is a wonderful time to get involved! Whether through volunteering, donating, or participating in local events, every little bit helps in fulfilling the wishes of brave children across Alabama. As Magic Moments continues its mission of hope, joy, and connection, it’s clear that the future is as bright as the smiles it brings.
As the community rallies together to support these inspiring initiatives, there’s no doubt that under Rachel Rounsaville’s leadership, Magic Moments will continue granting wishes and creating unforgettable moments for children and their families throughout the heart of Alabama!
