Irondale Celebrates the Holiday Season with Polar Express Adventure Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony

Irondale Gears Up for the Holiday Season with Polar Express Adventure Parade

Get ready, Irondale! The holiday spirit is in the air, and it’s about to kick into high gear with the much-anticipated “Polar Express Adventure” Christmas Parade and tree lighting ceremony. Mark your calendars for Friday, December 6, as the festivities will begin at 6 PM sharp! The parade will roll out from the Irondale Community School and make its way to Irondale City Hall, where everyone can gather for the lighting of the grand 20-foot Christmas tree at 7:30 PM.

So Much to Look Forward To!

This year, the parade promises to be spectacular with over 40 groups participating. You can expect to see the lively Shades Valley High School Marching Band, various city departments, local churches, businesses, and numerous community groups bringing their best to the streets. It’s sure to be a joyous celebration that captures the warmth and spirit of the season!

Family Fun Awaits!

Once the parade wraps up, make your way to Irondale City Hall, where the fun continues! Families can enjoy free photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. How great would it be to capture a magical moment with the jolly couple? And don’t forget to grab some free hot chocolate—nothing says Christmas quite like warm cocoa in hand while soaking in the festive atmosphere. There will also be caroling to get you in the holiday mood before Mayor James D. Stewart, Jr. flips the switch to light the city’s holiday tree!

Discover the Irondale Storybook Walk

In addition to the parade, there’s another delightful activity happening right now! Be sure to check out the Irondale Storybook Walk, located near the Irondale Community School. This special walk features Chris Van Allsburg’s classic “The Polar Express”. As you stroll along, you can stop and read the book pages displayed throughout the path, making it an enchanting experience for readers of all ages. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday season throughout December!

A Celebration Rooted in Tradition

Mayor Stewart expressed his excitement about this year’s event, stating, “With Irondale’s deep roots as a train city, we’re excited to bring the magic of the Polar Express to our community.” It sounds like this year’s festivities are shaping up to be an unforgettable celebration that embodies the warmth and togetherness that the holiday season is all about.
