Exciting news for fans of travel and hospitality! Our very own Birmingham, affectionately known as the Magic City, has officially been chosen to host the International Inbound Travel Association (IITA) Summit in 2027. This prestigious event will bring together hundreds of travel organizations all keen to do business, and it’s all happening right here in our beloved city!
Birmingham emerged victorious out of five other competing cities that were vying for the honor of hosting this major summit. There’s nothing like a bit of friendly competition, and it’s exhilarating to see our city shining brightly on the global stage! The IITA Summit is essential for travel service providers looking to welcome international travelers to the U.S and gives them an opportunity to network and share their services.
Members of the IITA, including leading inbound tour operators from across the U.S., will have the chance to enjoy everything Birmingham has to offer. They’ll delve deep into the city’s rich history, from its renowned steel industry to its profound civil rights heritage, all while savoring the delicious culinary delights we have to offer. Imagine the flavors of our local cuisine enticing visitors from all around the world!
The Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau played a pivotal role in securing this incredible opportunity. They worked tirelessly alongside local partners, including the Hyatt Regency Birmingham and The Wynfrey Hotel, to craft a compelling bid. Their passion and dedication to showcasing our city’s unique offerings truly shone through.
Securing the IITA Summit is just the latest in a series of successful events for Birmingham. This decade alone, the Magic City has taken the spotlight for hosting several prestigious national and global gatherings. Just last year, Birmingham was buzzing with excitement as it hosted the World Games. And in the year to come, we’ll be welcoming athletes from around the globe for the 2025 World Police and Fire Games. Adding to the buzz, we even landed the bid for the 2029 National Senior Games!
So, what does this mean for us? Well, hosting the IITA Summit not only gives Birmingham a chance to flaunt its rich history and vibrant culture but it also highlights our classic Southern hospitality. As a city, we’re ready to roll out the red carpet and deliver an unforgettable experience that will leave a lasting impression on our international guests.
We can’t wait to showcase our city to travel professionals from all corners of the globe! If you’re as excited as we are about this upcoming event, let us hear your thoughts! Don’t hesitate to tag us on social media @bhamnow on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
