Hoover Residents Share Feedback on Updated Tattersall Park Development Plans

Hoover Residents Weigh In on Revised Tattersall Park Plans

In the charming city of Hoover, there’s a buzz of conversation as residents react to new developments in the proposed Tattersall Park project. Just next to the esteemed Greystone community, Ebsco Industries and partner CR-Endeavors have made some significant changes to their plans for 33 undeveloped acres, aiming to ease the concerns of nearby residents.

What’s New?

Initially, the developers planned for 170 apartments catered towards those aged 55 and older, but after listening to community feedback, they’ve made edits. The total number of proposed multifamily units will now be reduced from 137.5 to somewhere between 120 and 126. Plus, they’ve decided to shift 30 to 36 of those units from apartments to condos. David Davis, a spokesperson for the project, shared that they are focused on making the development align more closely with what residents want.

A Closer Look at Resident Concerns

Ashley Lovell, a resident from Greystone and vocal opponent to earlier plans, sat down with the developers last week to discuss these revisions. Although she appreciates the engagement, she voiced that for many community members, the changes might not go far enough. Ashley mentioned that she is pushing for more options for locals, particularly emphasizing the need for community input moving forward.

“If the units proposed as condos sell well, there’s a chance that more apartments could be converted,” Ashley explained. The developers are open to considering these options but are still waiting on a detailed parking study to make informed decisions regarding the overall layout of the project.

What Else is in the Pipeline?

The revised plans also hint at a potential reduction in the proposed commercial space to create additional parking, a concern raised by numerous residents. Excitingly, one of the planned buildings might even house a new branch of the Hoover Public Library. The developers are also moving forward with plans for a 125-room hotel, anticipated to be about five stories high, alongside three to four-story condo buildings.

Ashley further informed local residents that approximately 7,000 square feet of retail space would be included in the development, along with plans for several restaurants to cater to both residents and visitors. However, she wants to ensure that the community’s voice is heard and that everyone has a chance to share their thoughts on these developments.

Getting Involved

Greystone.org, featuring a dedicated tab for the Tattersall Park project. Here, locals can find detailed updates and a survey to gather opinions about the latest project revisions. Ashley urges everyone to fill out the survey, which will be available starting Wednesday, Nov. 20.

What’s Next?

The crucial zoning case is set to be reviewed by the Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission on December 9, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Hoover City Hall. For those interested in contributing to the conversation, the public can attend a work session at 5 p.m., where questions and comments are encouraged.

This is your chance to weigh in, Hoover! The Tattersall Park project could bring exciting changes to your neighborhood, so be sure to stay informed and get your voice heard.
