Hoover, Alabama – Residents of Hoover will have to say goodbye to K&J’s Elegant Pastries, a well-loved bakery located at Ross Bridge. Owner and famed chef, Kristal Bryant, announced that this location will be closing its doors for good on Saturday, September 14th, due to a combination of factors, primarily a lack of sufficient business to sustain the shop.
Since its inception in 2017, K&J’s Elegant Pastries has garnered a loyal following thanks to Kristal’s unique take on traditional desserts. Starting from humble beginnings operating out of her home, Kristal developed her passion into a thriving business over the years. With offerings that range from rich cupcakes to indulgent milkshakes, and elaborate wedding cakes, the bakery has certainly made its mark on the local culinary scene.
“Unfortunately, this store didn’t do what it needed to do to survive, but I am okay with that. Our uptown store is booming and will be open,” Kristal reflected. The bakery’s other two locations in Uptown near City Walk BHAM and in Hoover will remain operational, maintaining the sweet legacy that Kristal has built.
Kristal mentioned that while the Ross Bridge location faced challenges, the Uptown location has been thriving. This location has become a go-to spot for those looking to satisfy their sweet cravings with items like soft, buttery cupcakes and creative ice cream concoctions.
The closing of the Ross Bridge shop might not come as a complete surprise to some, as business metrics indicated that foot traffic and sales were not meeting expectations. However, the community can take comfort in knowing that the other locations are still serving their delicious treats, continuing Kristal’s successful endeavor in Birmingham.
Chef Kristal’s talent has been recognized on various platforms including features on Good Morning America, Food Network, and in Southern Living Magazine. Her ability to adapt traditional desserts into exciting new treats has captured the hearts and taste buds of many.
The closing of the Ross Bridge location is bittersweet for both Kristal and her devoted customers. Many locals have fond memories tied to the bakery, making visits for birthday cakes, sweet treats after meals, or just to enjoy the comfortable atmosphere. The community has always shown their support through sharing their experiences and favorite items from the bakery on social media.
As the clock winds down towards the closing date, customers are encouraged to visit the Ross Bridge location one last time to relish their favorite treats. Kristal is optimistic about the future and grateful for the support from her community that has made both the Uptown and Hoover locations successful.
If you haven’t had the chance yet, be sure to swing by K&J’s Elegant Pastries before the end of the week.
