Hoover Resident Featured on HGTV’s “House Hunters”

Hoover, AL – A new episode of “House Hunters” on HGTV will spotlight a local resident’s search for a new home in downtown Birmingham. The episode, titled “New Beginning in Birmingham,” is set to air on September 25 at 9 p.m. Central Time.

Randy Sullivan, a long-time Hoover resident, found himself in the spotlight while searching for properties in Birmingham. He was already in the market for a new home when real estate agent Jeff Davis of ARC Realty approached him about an opportunity to film his homebuying journey. “The opportunity came up and I was like, ‘Sure, why not?’ I thought it would be fun,” Sullivan reflected.

Sullivan, who has worked with both Davis and fellow Realtor Sabrina Stephens for years, quickly enlisted Stephens as his viewing partner for the show. The duo first had to audition, answering questions to establish their chemistry before being selected for filming by HGTV producers from both New York and Los Angeles. “So we had two sets of eyes on us, and I guess they liked us enough,” said Sullivan.

Filming Experience

Filming for the episode spanned approximately five days over October and November 2023. Sullivan described the process as an enjoyable experience, highlighting his interactions with the production team. “The producer of the show was from New York, and the lighting and sound guys were from Atlanta and Charlotte, and they were just all super nice and accommodating,” he said. “They honestly made the process more enjoyable than I initially thought it would be.”

This was Sullivan’s first time filming for television, and he viewed it as a unique opportunity in his life. “I was already living in Hoover, but looking for property downtown,” he explained. His desire was to find a loft-type property with a rooftop area, drawing inspiration from his interest in architecture and historic buildings.

A Positive Spotlight on Birmingham’s Real Estate Market

Both Davis and Stephens noted that while the filming days were lengthy, they were exhilarating as they learned about the production process. “It was exciting, and we hope to showcase a positive light on the real estate industry,” they stated, recognizing that the Birmingham market continues to thrive in what they describe as an “unprecedented time.”

Viewers of the upcoming episode can anticipate some stunning property listings and unique perspectives of Birmingham. Sullivan shared his anticipation for watching the episode, although he admitted to some nerves. “I am a bit nervous to see it,” he said. “On the first day of production, I was actually sick. I lost my voice and wasn’t able to do the second day of recording.” Despite that, he described the experience as “a lot of fun” and expressed gratitude for being part of the project.

Conclusion

As the air date approaches, residents in the Hoover area are looking forward to seeing their community featured on national television. Fans of real estate shows won’t want to miss this special episode. For further information about “House Hunters,” visit HGTV’s official website.
