Hoover Gets Festive This Weekend! Celebrate the Start of the Holidays

It’s the weekend before Thanksgiving, and in the city of Hoover, you can already feel the excitement of the upcoming Christmas season! With holiday cheer in the air, there are several delightful activities lined up that are perfect for families and friends alike. Grab your loved ones and mark your calendars—here’s everything you need to know about kicking off the festive season!

Market Noel is Here!

First on the agenda is the much-anticipated Market Noel, a fantastic holiday shopping event brought to you by the Junior League of Birmingham. Taking place at the Finley Center, this market is the perfect one-stop shop for unique gifts! The event kicked off on Thursday, and you still have two more days to explore. It’s open on:

  • Friday, November 22: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 23: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

But that’s not all! Santa Claus is making a special appearance! Kids can enjoy a fun-filled time with “Milk and Cookies with Santa” on Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. And don’t miss “Brunch with the Buy Guy” on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. It’s a delightful opportunity for families to share the excitement of the season while indulging in some yummy treats!

Handel’s “Messiah” Performance

Looking for a touch of culture this weekend? The Alabama Civic Chorale is presenting its annual performance of Handel’s “Messiah” at the Riverchase United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 24. With an impressive 100 singers participating, this concert is all set to be captivating. And the best part? It’s completely free! Join in at 3 p.m. for an afternoon filled with beautiful music.

Christmas Trees from North Carolina

On the same day, brace yourself for the arrival of fresh Christmas trees at the Bluff Park United Methodist Church. The Scouts BSA Troop 21 is eagerly waiting for their first delivery from North Carolina. While their official sales won’t kick off until Friday, November 29, don’t be surprised if some trees are available on delivery day. This year, they’ve sourced their Frazier firs from the renowned Cartner’s Christmas Tree Farm, which will even be providing the tree for the White House! So, if the holiday spirit is calling to you, swing by and snag your tree early!

Catch Some Youth Flag Football Action

Sports fans will also have plenty to cheer about this weekend with the National Southeast Youth Flag Football Championship Tournament happening at the Hoover Metropolitan Complex. Running on Saturday and Sunday, this tournament features teams ranging from 6U to 14U. There will be plenty of concession stands open, making it a perfect weekend outing for families and friends cheering on their favorite teams!

Football Playoffs Heat Up

And let’s not forget about high school football! Both Hoover and Spain Park teams are in the third round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association playoffs. Tonight (Friday night), both teams are ready to take on rivals—Hoover will travel to Central-Phenix City for the Class 7A semifinals, while Spain Park heads to Saraland in the 6A quarterfinals. Who will emerge victorious? Only time will tell!
