Homewood’s Annual Back to School Bash Returns Next Month

The beloved Back to School Bash is making its annual return to Homewood next month. The much-anticipated event is a perfect opportunity for families and schoolchildren to celebrate the end of summer and the start of the new school year.

Back to School Bash Details

Set to take place on the 24th of August from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm, the Back to School Bash will be held at Homewood’s Patriot Park. Residents and visitors can look forward to an array of entertainment and festivities to cool off the summer heat and kickstart the semester in high spirits.

The event will include fun-filled activities such as bounce houses, food, music shows, and a highly anticipated pep rally. This family-friendly event is a product of the combined efforts of Homewood Parks and Rec Department and the West Homewood Neighborhood Association which have helmed the organization and operation of the annual summer festival for the past seven years.

Pep Rally and Live Music

The Back to School Bash will feature an impressive pep rally with performances by esteemed members of the Homewood High School Patriot Band. Scheduled to perform at 5 pm, the pep rally will surely uplift everyone’s moods and get them in the spirit of the event.

Following the pep rally, local band DeVine and Co is set to take the stage at 5:30 pm. Known for their unique sound that blends elements of rock, jazz, and improvisation, the band is inspired by the Grateful Dead music group and promises to keep attendees entertained throughout most of the evening.

Fun for Kids and Adults Alike

Expanding the fun beyond music, Holley, the superintendent of Homewood Parks and Recreation, promises that this year’s event will include mechanical rides including a cyclone swing for younger kids and another patriotic-themed ride for adults called Reckless.

In addition to the fun activities, the event will host two to four food trucks, with access to nearby restaurants for guests who prefer a more varied palate. With the food truck vendors being sponsors of the local neighborhood association or the yearly “We Love Homewood Day”, visitors will indeed be spoilt for choice.

A Cause for the Community

While general admission for the Back to School Bash is free, attendees are required to purchase a $10 wristband to enjoy the inflatables and the rides. The collected proceeds from these wristband sales directly benefit the Homewood High School Band, contributing to the city’s investment in the education sector.

Patriot Park, the event venue, is located at 710 Oak Grove Road in Homewood. For more information about the Back to School Bash, visitors are advised to visit the official Homewood Parks website.

With a tradition that has lasted for around 20 years, Homewood’s Back to School Bash remains a staple event for residents and guests across Alabama, helping bring a community together and celebrate another year of learning and growth.
