Highland Park Gears Up for Inaugural Community Celebration on October 13

Highland Park to Host Community Celebration on October 13

Highland Park, just south of downtown Birmingham, is gearing up for a delightful community event—its first-ever “It’s Nice to Have You in Highland Park” celebration. Slated for Sunday, October 13, this afternoon of fun and neighborly spirit promises to bring residents and visitors together for an experience filled with lemonade, live music, and lasting memories.

Community and Camaraderie

The event kicks off at 3 PM and welcomes everyone to engage with the history and culture of Highland Park. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit an ongoing exhibit hosted by the Birmingham Historical Society, focusing on the diverse homes lining Highland Avenue. Following the initial activities, participants will take part in a guided tour of the Alabama Audubon offices, exploring its beautiful courtyard, lobby, and even some of the 7th-floor apartments at the historic Greenbriar at the Altamont.

Historic Homes and Refreshments

One of the highlights of the day will be enjoying fresh lemonade on the porches of three charming historic homes: the Burnett-Morrow House, Shook House, and Brown House. These picturesque locations along Highland Avenue make for a perfect setting for community engagement and friendly conversation.

Live Music and Afterparty

As the sun begins to set, the festivities will continue with an afterparty at Rojo’s side room. Attendees can look forward to live music, delicious food, and drinks, creating an upbeat atmosphere to enjoy with friends and neighbors.

A Collaborative Effort

The Highland Park Neighborhood Association is excited about this inaugural event. They have collaborated with local non-profits and nearby businesses to ensure a family-friendly experience that everyone can enjoy. According to organizers, the hope is for “It’s Nice to Have You in Highland Park” to become an annual event that grows and evolves with community participation.

What to Expect

Whether you’re a long-time resident or new to the area, this gathering promises to be an excellent opportunity to meet neighbors, discover local history, and enjoy Highland Park’s unique charm. From activities for children to engaging exhibits for adults, there is something for everyone.

Join the Celebration!

So mark your calendars for October 13 at 3 PM and come join your neighbors for a wonderful afternoon of community spirit. Don’t forget to share your experience on social media by tagging @bhamnow as you enjoy everything Highland Park has to offer!

Let’s make this event a fantastic gathering of community members where friendships flourish, and local culture thrives. We look forward to seeing you there!
