Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Disassociates Herself from VP Vetting for Kamala Harris

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer stated categorically that she is “not a part of the vetting process” for the selection of a running mate for Vice President Kamala Harris. This statement comes amidst speculation of the possibility of her being on the ticket.

Whitmer to Remain Governor of Michigan

The Governor reiterated her commitment to continue serving the people of Michigan throughout her term which ends in 2026. Whitmer’s name had surfaced among potential candidates for the vice president slot prior to President Biden opting out of the race and endorsing Harris. We’ve proved that wrong in the swingingest of swing states.” The Governor mentioned that the top executive posts of the Michigan government are currently held by women, repudiating the notion that it isn’t feasible to have a majority female ticket.
