Festa Italiana Brings A Taste of Italy to Birmingham

Italian Culture Celebrated

On June 15, 2024, Birmingham will immerse itself in Italian culture as the Italian American Heritage Society hosts the inaugural Festa Italiana. The festivities, which will run from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm, will take place at the iconic Sloss Furnaces. Attendees can expect to delight in live music, Italian-inspired acts, homemade Italian cuisine, and an array of interactive activities.

Diverse Festive Offerings at Festa Italiana

Festa Italiana boasts several villages within the event, each of which provides unique experiences for all ages. For the more competitive folks, the festival offers a chance to display prowess in traditional Italian games. Notably, the popular lawn bowling game, Bocce Ball, will be open to contestants aged 12 and up, with both casual and competitive games available. Winners can look forward to an exclusive Festa Italiana trophy to celebrate their victory!

For foodies, Festa Italiana’s Food Village is poised to whirl attendees through a culinary journey with its irresistible combo of classic Italian fare and popular beverages. From sausages and peppers in freshly fried dough to creamy gelato and cannolis, food vendors are ready to serve up authentic Italian dishes. Beverages on offer range from Tito’s Limoncello and Back 40 Italian Lager to Spina Italian Wines and Brevazzi Italian Soda.

Grand Raffle to Win a Trip to Italy

For an additional thrill, Festa Italiana hosts a raffle that could see the lucky winner embark on a nine-night trip to Italy for two, valued at $11,000. The impressive prize includes round-trip airline tickets, transportation, and breakfast throughout the trip. Raffle tickets are available for purchase both online and at the Italian American Society booth during the festival.

Connecting with Italian Heritage

Highlighting the importance of Italian cultural preservation, the Villagio Culturale, designed to mimic an Italian village, will feature a fountain, a church, a bakery, and a museum. There, attendees can learn more about their Italian heritage and delve into resources on ancestry research and dual citizenship.

Soak in the sounds of Italy

The Music of Italy village is set to wow attendees with the melodious University of Montevallo Jazz Band and enchanting sounds of Ken Gilmer who will deliver timeless hits by music legends, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
