Hey there, Homewood! Got any plans for the weekend? If you’re scratching your head trying to decide how to spend your time, you’re in luck! There’s a bunch of events happening this weekend from November 15 to 17, and we’re here to give you the scoop!
First off, mark your calendars because Saturday is going to be a blast! There’s a community craft fair happening at the Homewood Community Center! Whether you’re a serious shopper or just looking for some local handmade items to browse, you won’t want to miss this. You’ll find everything from pottery to jewelry, and guess what? It’s perfect for picking up unique gifts just in time for the holiday season. The fair kicks off at 10 AM, so grab a friend and enjoy some shopping!
But wait, there’s more! If you’re in the mood for some live music, head over to the Homewood Amphitheater on Saturday evening. Local bands will be rocking the stage starting at 6 PM. It’s a great way to unwind after a busy week, and support our talented local musicians. Bring your picnic blanket, a few snacks, and enjoy a lovely evening under the stars!
Now, while you’re out having fun, let’s dive into some action from this past week in sports! Our Homewood football team had a thrilling game this week! They battled it out against Athens and came away with a spectacular 31-24 victory. What a nail-biter! Now, they’re gearing up for a playoff match against Fort Payne this week. Fans are pumped and the excitement is electrifying! Don’t forget to wear your Homewood colors and cheer your team on!
Speaking of Homewood High School, we can’t forget to mention the shining stars of our community! Nine student-athletes signed to continue their sports careers at the collegiate level this past Wednesday. What an incredible milestone! Their hard work and dedication paid off, and we can’t wait to see how they represent our town at the next level. Let’s all give them a big round of applause!
In other heartwarming news, Homewood Helps is making waves! This initiative, a collaboration between our school system and caring community leaders, addresses some pressing issues like food and bed insecurity faced by students in our area. It’s a fantastic effort to ensure that every student in Homewood City Schools gets the support they need. If you want to help or learn more, we encourage you to reach out to find out how you can contribute.
Additionally, we have a new face in the Homewood City Schools that we’re excited to introduce! Meet McCall Hardison, our new communications director. McCall is eager to bring fresh ideas to enhance our community’s communication and engagement. Make sure to give a warm welcome to McCall as they settle into their new role!
We also wanted to take a moment to look back and reflect on the contributions of retired library director, Deborah Fout. She’s shared some wonderful memories of the Homewood Public Library and her time spent serving our community. Deborah has played a pivotal role in creating a love for reading and learning in our townsfolk, and for that, we send her our heartfelt thanks.
There you have it, Homewood! A weekend filled with activities, sports updates, and community highlights. Whether you’re getting crafty, cheering for the football team, or enjoying some local music, make sure to soak in all the good vibes. Enjoy your weekend!
