Hey there, Birmingham! Have you heard the buzz? A brand new ambulatory care facility is getting ready to open its doors right in the heart of our city. That’s right! The Cooper Green Mercy Health Clinic is here to offer a wide range of health services to the folks of Jefferson County.
This isn’t just any clinic; it’s a full-service ambulatory care facility! What does that mean for you? It means you’ll find everything you need under one roof— from primary and specialty care clinics to urgent care and even physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Patients can also access laboratory services, imaging, and a pharmacy right on site.
Perhaps one of the best parts about the new clinic is its commitment to accessibility. The Cooper Green Mercy Health Clinic is on a mission to serve all residents, irrespective of their ability to pay. That’s right! You heard it correctly! Through their new eligibility criteria, the clinic will evaluate a patient’s individual income, rather than household income. That means for those who qualify, you could enroll in low or even no-cost plans.
David Randall, the CEO of Cooper Green Mercy Health Services Authority, is optimistic about what’s to come. He stated, “Given what we have accomplished over the past four years, I am confident that Cooper Green will become a national benchmark for improving the health and lives in the communities we serve.” Sounds ambitious, right? But he believes it’s achievable with their dedicated team and a facility designed not just for care, but for compassionate healing.
Now, let’s take a little stroll down memory lane. The Cooper Green we’ve come to know started its journey in 1972 when it opened as a 319-bed acute care hospital named Mercy Hospital. Owned by Jefferson County, the hospital was always focused on providing care to all, regardless of their ability to pay. The facility was renamed in 1975 to honor former Birmingham mayor, Cooper Green.
Fast forward to 2012, when Cooper Green made a significant change from being an inpatient hospital to focusing solely on outpatient services. This latest opening marks an exciting new chapter as it becomes an affiliate of the UAB Health System!
Mark your calendars, folks! The Cooper Green Mercy Health Clinic is set to officially open its doors in early December. Not only does this provide better health access to the community, but it also symbolizes hope for many in need of medical assistance.
Already feeling the excitement? Well, good news — the clinic is accepting new patients! If you’re interested in becoming a part of this wonderful healthcare opportunity, just call 205-930-3377 to make an enrollment appointment. It can’t get any easier than that!
So, Birmingham, as we sit at the brink of a new healthcare era, it’s comforting to know that Cooper Green Mercy Health Clinic is here to support our community. Whether it’s a routine check-up or specialized treatment you’re after, remember, help is just around the corner!
Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a smooth opening as we welcome this amazing facility to our community. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
