Excitement Builds in Birmingham for the 2025 World Police & Fire Games!

Birmingham, Alabama, is buzzing with excitement as it prepares to host the 2025 World Police & Fire Games—an event that promises to honor the incredible heroes among us. If you’ve got what it takes to be a part of this global gathering, mark your calendars! Registration opens on November 8, 2024, and it’s time to showcase your skills.

A Global Celebration of First Responders

Themed as “The Games of Heroes,” these games will run from June 27 to July 6, 2025, and will welcome more than 8,500 first responders from around the world. Competitors will gather to test their mettle in over 60 athletic events, making this not just a competition, but a spectacular celebration of courage, strength, and unity among first responders.

Jim King, President of the California Police Athletic Federation, emphasizes the importance of this event. “We are thrilled to host the World Police and Fire Games in the U.S. once again, the first time since the 2017 games in Los Angeles,” he said. The games have truly become a global phenomenon since starting in 1985 in San Jose, California, and they’ve gathered participants from over 70 countries over the years.

A Thrilling Line-Up of Events

Whether athletes are into basketball, soccer, weightlifting, or an array of other sports, there’s something for every competitor in the WPFG. Events will include traditional sports alongside unique challenges tailored specifically for first responders. Get ready to cheer for competitors in the “Police Pistol Combat”, “Toughest Competitor Alive”, and “Ultimate Firefighter” categories!

The WPFG not only highlights athletic prowess but also sheds light on the dedication and skill of first responders. DJ Mackovets, CEO of the BHM 2025 Host Committee, expressed excitement over the event. “The World Police and Fire Games reflect the remarkable dedication and skill of the first responders who serve daily,” he said. “We are honored to support an event that unites these global athletes in an unparalleled display of physical and mental endurance.”

Calling All First Responders!

Are you a current or retired public safety personnel? This is your opportunity to shine! Registration will be open to all law enforcement officials, fire service members, customs officers, corrections personnel, and even 9-1-1 dispatchers and lifeguards in good standing.
