Sponsor Our ArticlesThis weekend, Vestavia Hills is buzzing with holiday spirit, and there’s plenty happening to keep residents and visitors alike filled with merriment!
Kick off your Saturday morning at the Vestavia Hills Civic Center from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. for a fantastic free pancake breakfast with Santa. That’s right! You can enjoy a delicious stack of pancakes on the house while the kids get a chance to meet the man in red. Plus, no need to stress about reservations; just show up and have some festive fun!
After filling your belly with pancakes, stick around for the Gingerbread Jam taking place at the Civic Center from 8 a.m. until noon. This special open house event is being hosted by the Megan Montgomery Foundation and features a gingerbread house competition aimed at raising money to help combat relationship violence. If you’ve entered the contest, make sure your creations are in by Friday for a chance to win! Don’t forget to come back at 11:45 a.m. for the big reveal of the winners!
As we move into Sunday, take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday season at two local churches. First up, the Metropolitan Church will present “God With Us: A Christmas Worship Experience” from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Their worship choir and orchestra promise to deliver quite an inspiring morning of song.
If you’re at Liberty Park, check out the special Christmas service at the Church at Liberty Park, featuring the melodious Act of Congress music group alongside the church’s worship choir. For more details, give them a call at 205-969-1236.
The holiday season can be tough for many people, especially those coping with loss or feelings of loneliness. To offer support, Vestavia Hills Baptist Church will open its chapel for quiet reflection on Sunday, December 15, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon. This is a peaceful time set aside for anyone looking for solace in their struggles. Before attending, you might want to check out a heartwarming conversation about grief and consolation from Pastor Eric Spivey and Music Minister Marty Watts—a little preparation goes a long way!
Later that same day, you can join the Shades Mountain Baptist Church for their Holiday Remembrance Service at 4 p.m. This heartfelt service is designed for anyone who has experienced loss this past year, providing a space to remember loved ones while nurturing hope. Make sure to register by 1 p.m. on Sunday if you’d like to participate.
Just in case you’ve missed some of the exciting happenings in Vestavia Hills this week, here’s a quick recap.
