Mountain Brook is set for a significant transformation with the announcement of a new Chase Bank branch slated to open its doors in mid-2025. This development is part of a broader trend of growth and revitalization in the area, especially in light of recent changes following a damaging fire in 2022.
The new branch will occupy the location at 2629 Cahaba Road, a site previously home to Ray & Poynor, which was severely impacted by fire last year. Currently, the lot is empty, awaiting its new tenant. This prime corner location, at the intersection of Cahaba Road and Culver Road, is expected to become a hub of activity once the branch opens.
According to Jennifer DiSalvo, the head of Chase branches in Alabama, “We’re excited about our new branch coming to Mountain Brook. That’s a prime location, and this will be a larger branch footprint for us—with more offices for customers to meet privately with a Chase banker.” This indicates a commitment to enhancing customer experience and catering to the needs of the local community.
Chase Bank has secured the necessary regulatory approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, marking an important step toward establishing a presence in Mountain Brook. This branch will be the seventh Chase location in the Birmingham metro area and the 12th within the state of Alabama.
In addition to the Mountain Brook branch, Chase has plans to open another branch in Huntsville by the end of 2024. The bank has recently expanded its footprint in the region, including the opening of a branch in Hoover this past February.
The expansion of Chase Bank is anticipated to have a positive impact on the local economy by adding jobs. Typically, a new branch employs around eight to ten local bankers, which can provide a boost to employment in the area. As of June 30, Chase Bank had approximately $96 million in deposits in the Birmingham-Hoover metro area, reflecting a small yet increasing market share of 0.19%. This is a notable rise from around $28 million just a year prior.
The arrival of Chase Bank is just one part of a broader picture of growth in Mountain Brook. Other businesses are also making their mark on the community. Notably, Surf Hound, which offers a coastal-inspired menu, is moving into the former location of Carrigan’s Public House, bringing a fresh dining option to residents. Additionally, French Door Antiques, a store specializing in French and Italian antiques, is opening on Culver Road, diversifying the shopping experience in the area.
As these new businesses open and existing ones expand, there is a palpable sense of excitement among Mountain Brook residents. The community is eagerly anticipating the positive changes that come with new establishments, from enhanced dining options to improved banking services. The combined efforts of these businesses signal a vibrant future for Mountain Brook, bringing both economic vitality and new opportunities for residents.
With the Chase Bank branch set to take advantage of its prime location and the flourishing local business scene, Mountain Brook is embracing a new era of growth and community engagement.
