Former Carrigan’s Beer Garden Space Demolished; New Frida’s Garden Club Coming Soon

A New Chapter for Lakeview Area

The whispers of a once-familiar location in Lakeview getting a new lease of life spread across the city last week as the former space of Carrigan’s Beer Garden/Brät Brot at 2912 6th Ave S underwent demolition works. The previous German-inspired watering hole which flourished since its establishment in 2018 will soon make way for Frida’s Garden Club, a new venture promising to breathe fresh vitality into this prime location.

Reliving Carrigan’s Beer Garden’s Legacy

Carrigan’s Beer Garden, also known as Brät Brot, rose to popularity under the ownership of David Carrigan, who also helms the downtown Birmingham establishment, Carrigan’s Philanthropub. A desirable destination for beer aficionados, Carrigan’s Beer Garden won hearts with its impressive array of German beers and a carefully curated menu that catered to a diverse palatal array.

With a brief hiatus in 2019 for some design reinvention, the garden resumed operations with an updated menu and extended operating hours to cater better to its patrons. Outdoor games were also offered, enhancing the appeal of this German-themed retreat. In a shift of ownership tides, the garden was sold off in September for a staggering $2,275,000.

Frida’s Garden Club Awaits Its Inception

The rebirth of the former Carrigan’s Beer Garden location has sparked interest among the city’s social butterflies, with Frida’s Garden Club, the upcoming establishment, building anticipation. Although concrete details about the club remain scarce, architectural renderings and proposed plans that surfaced during the last Design Review Committee meeting on May 28 have given a taste of what lies ahead.

Frida’s Garden Club’s renderings suggest a beautiful amalgamation of internal gardens within its restaurant setup. Highlights include a concrete walkway, custom brass bar, storage wall, custom millwork banquette seating, custom wrought iron archway, millwork planting shelf, new partition walls, stone wall, and a garden gate.

As excitement around the opening of Frida’s Garden Club builds, citizens look forward to the novel experiences that this new establishment promises to offer. Be sure to stay tuned for the latest updates on Birmingham’s evolving dining and socializing landscape.
