Sponsor Our ArticlesIn the heart of the Rocky Ridge community of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, the Cajun Seafood House is bringing a taste of Louisiana to the locals. Managed by Adam Lee, the restaurant has become a popular spot for seafood lovers since his arrival over three years ago. Lee recently opened up about his experiences in the restaurant industry, his favorite foods, and his love for outdoor activities.
Lee, who has been in the restaurant business for close to 30 years, took on the management position at Cajun Seafood House about a year ago. Before joining this local treasure, he worked in various restaurants, from fine dining to barbecue and seafood eateries. Lee’s history includes a notable stint at the old Merritt House in Five Points South, and he has even served in seafood restaurants along the Gulf Coast.
When asked about his passion for food and the restaurant industry, Lee shared, “I’ve always liked people. I’ve always liked pleasing people, cooking at home — that type of thing. It just seemed like the perfect business for someone that likes to make people happy and show them a good time.” His combinational love for cooking and interacting with customers shapes the welcoming atmosphere of the Cajun Seafood House.
As for the menu, Lee highlights some specialties created by their chef, Avi, including the stuffed grouper and stuffed shrimp. These dishes are often served on a bed of rice or mashed potatoes, accompanied by asparagus or spinach. “They’re really top-notch,” he described, indicating his pride in the restaurant’s culinary offerings.
Outside of his role at the restaurant, Lee enjoys spending time outdoors. Although he mentioned that his hobbies took a backseat while caring for his mother during her illness, he still finds joy in hiking and outdoor activities. “I used to play a lot of disc golf, and I like hiking and outdoor stuff — anything to get me outdoors,” he reflected. His favorite local spots are Cheaha State Park and Oak Mountain State Park, where he enjoys the fresh air and lovely views.
Those who know Lee are aware of his interesting array of interests, including a love for Star Wars and Marvel, along with a keen following of sports such as hockey and football. Surprisingly, his passion for hockey stems from a Seinfeld episode that depicted a New Jersey Devils fan. Despite the deep roots of the sport in the North, Lee proudly claims his fandom for the Devils in the heart of the South.
If given the chance to travel anywhere, Lee dreams of visiting Ireland. “Some of my roots, some of the ancestry, but the land itself is just beautiful. It’s so green, so virgin, and it’s a little chilly, which leans more toward the kind of weather I like,” he said. Lee hopes to experience the rich culture and landscapes of Ireland someday.
With his extensive background, personal charm, and dedication to excellent service, Adam Lee is not just a manager; he’s a pillar of the Rocky Ridge community. Through the Cajun Seafood House, he continues to share his passion for good food and good company, making it a beloved dining spot for locals in Vestavia Hills.
