The vibrant city of Birmingham always has something to offer to its residents and visitors. Whether it’s top-notch live performances featuring local and national artists, community-focused events, or significant cultural moments, there’s always something to experience. Here are some highlights of the things happening in and around the city.

Live Performances

Legendary R&B vocalist Phillippia will be performing at the Perfect Note on Saturday night. Known for her powerful and soulful vocals, Phillippia’s performances are always a treat for music lovers.

Fans of rock music should not miss the performance by Brody Schenk & Danny Hammons at the Nick, while lovers of jazz can enjoy the melody of Jazz Saxophonist Nelson Rangell at the Perfect Note.

Iron City is hosting a performance by the talented musician Paul Cauthern, which promises to be a unique blend of soulful, heartfelt lyrics paired with raw, passionate vocals.

Community Events

The community can engage in various activities such as Alabama Blazin Bingo at Overtime Grill and Bar and Computer classes every Tuesday and Thursday at the Five Points West Library. For the food enthusiasts, there’s an Afro Caribbean Night every Friday Night at Ash’s on 2nd.

The children can immerse themselves in the magic of stories every Friday with the Storytime at the Gardens event at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

Cultural Events

Sunday worship at the Sixth Avenue Baptist Church is a spiritually enriching experience, which the community members deeply cherish.

In June, the Birmingham Zoo is hosting the Zoo Brews event where visitors can enjoy over 20 breweries while exploring the zoo. The zoo is also hosting a summer camp for children now through July 26.

Every 3rd Sunday, there is a Jazz Jam Session at the Ferus on 41st. Music lovers should not miss the chance to experience the euphoria of music at this event.

Sporting Events

Home team Birmingham Stallions will be taking on the Michigan Panthers on June 1st at Protective Stadium. A few days later, Birmingham Legion FC will clash with Indy Eleven, promising an exciting environment for sports lovers.

Further, the community can be a part of Alabama Ballet’s Bonnie and Clyde at Dorothy Jemison Day Theater.

In The Future

Looking into the near future, Birmingham will host the Entrepreneurs & Innovators Conference in early June at the Tuxedo Ballroom in the Ensley Entertainment District.

Also, watch out for the Funky Food Truck Festival at Cahaba Brewing Co., featuring food, music, dancing, and surprise performances. And, as a tribute to the wonderful Caribbean culture, the Marvel City Caribbean Food and Music Festival is scheduled in the first week of June.
