Birmingham Weather Update: A Warm Start to November!

Good morning, Birmingham! As we dive into this beautiful Wednesday morning, temperatures are settling nicely between the 60s and 70s. It’s a fantastic time to sip your morning coffee and soak in the mild start to the day. The sky is mostly heading towards cloudy territory, so grab an umbrella just in case! There’s a slight chance of an isolated shower or storm making an appearance this afternoon and into the evening.

Feeling Warm with Highs Near 80!

As we progress through the day, expect temperatures to climb closer to the 80°F mark in Birmingham, with our neighbors in west Alabama likely reaching into the low-to-mid 80s. It’s worth noting that we might just be on the brink of tying some record-high temperatures today. Birmingham’s record for November 6 is a toasty 82°F, set way back in 1963. Over in Tuscaloosa, the record stands at a sizzling 83°F from 2002, and Anniston is not too far behind with a comfy 81°F record, also set in 2022. To put things into perspective, our average highs and lows for early November usually sit around a pleasant 69°F during the day and a cool 47°F at night.

Hurricane Rafael: What to Expect

Now, let’s switch gears a bit and talk about the weather on the horizon! Hurricane Rafael is currently packing winds as a Category 1 storm, but it’s predicted to upgrade to a Category 2 by Thursday as it ventures into the Gulf. This storm, however, will face some challenging conditions like cooler Gulf waters, dry air, and strong wind shear, which could weaken it before it hits land this weekend along the Louisiana coast.

For us in Alabama, there’s quite a moisture plume associated with this system, and it means we’ll likely see scattered showers throughout the state this weekend. If Rafael decides to drift further west, it could limit the rain we get, but for now, prepare for a possible half-inch of rain heading our way. Alabama fans making the trip to LSU this Saturday should brace for some rain, and those staying in Birmingham should have an umbrella handy as well!

Looking Ahead: Veterans Day Forecast

As we keep moving through the week, let’s take a moment to talk about Veterans Day on Monday. It appears we’ll be greeted with mild temperatures hovering around the mid-70s and a lovely mix of sunshine and clouds. It looks like we won’t be seeing any drastic temperature changes in the next week either. We are certainly enjoying a very mild start to November!
