Birmingham Businesses Encouraged to Enlist in New Tax Software Ahead of September Deadline

Business owners in Birmingham, Alabama are being urged to register their enterprises in a new tax software program before the impending deadline of September 6th. This initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to streamline and optimize the tax administration process. The shift to digital tax management is projected to affect nearly 35,000 operational businesses across Birmingham.

HdL Companies Partnership with Birmingham City

City authorities have joined forces with HdL Companies, a leading government software provider, to enhance customer service and streamline the tax process for businesses. The new software will enable business owners to pay through e-checks, thus taking a step forward towards digital transformation.

The registration process for the new system kicked off this week, and the City Tax Collection Management has stressed the importance of pre-deadline registration by existing businesses.

Consequences of Late Registration

As per the directive by the Birmingham Tax Collections Manager, Yolanda Lawson, businesses failing to register by the stipulated date will face detriments. These include the inability to make payments and renew business licenses online. This warning serves as a reminder to business owners to prioritize this registration to avoid potential hurdles.

How to Register

While new businesses are still required to register in person, existing businesses can easily start their registration process by clicking here. This link will redirect them to the official registration portal where they can fill in the necessary details and submit their application.

Nearing The Deadline

With the September 6 deadline fast approaching, businesses in Birmingham are urged to complete their registration swiftly. As this switch to the new tax software is intended to build on the city’s commitment to providing seamless and efficient tax services to its operating businesses, it is in the best interests of owners to comply and re-establish their online credentials under a more streamlined and digitally-empowered system.
