The beloved filmmaker, known for her infectious warmth and dedication to uplifting local talent, passed away on Friday in Dayton, Ohio, at the tender age of 42. Her contributions to the arts community in Birmingham and beyond will not be easily forgotten.
A Legacy of Love and Community
Friends and family are coming forward to remember Tyesha for the incredible legacy she leaves behind. “I want people to know that she had an impact on the world around her,” shared her sister, Daphne Brown, who also lives in the Ensley community. “Although she didn’t have any kids, she left her footprints on our family and cities like Los Angeles, Memphis, and Baltimore.” Daphne couldn’t hold back her admiration, labeling her sister the epitome of love. “When you read your Bible and it says, ‘love is patient, love is kind’, that’s my sister. There wasn’t a bad bone in her body,” she recalled with tears in her eyes.
Growing up, the sister duo was inseparable. “You wouldn’t find Tyesha without me, and me without her,” Daphne reminisced. Their bond was unbreakable, with Tyesha’s dedication and infectious laughter illuminating every room she entered. Daphne added, “I will miss all things Tyesha.”
