According to Birmingham Police Department Sergeant LaQuitta Wade, officers received a call reporting a shooting at approximately 12:19 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found that Terry had fled the scene to a nearby shed, where he was later discovered lying unresponsive. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel were called to the scene and confirmed that he had succumbed to his injuries. “The preliminary investigation suggests that the victim came to a residence in the 8200 block of 4th Avenue North,” explained Sgt. Wade. “While at the residence, a verbal altercation occurred between the victim and the suspect, possibly outside of the residence. During the verbal dispute, the suspect shot the victim.”

According to Sergeant Wade, following the shooting, Terry managed to escape and ran to the 300 block of 83rd Street North before collapsing inside the shed.
