Birmingham HVAC Distributor to Expand into West Florida
Birmingham, AL – In an exciting development for local business and the HVAC industry, Air Engineers (AE), a family-owned wholesale distributor, has announced plans to expand its operations into West Florida, significantly broadening its market reach.
Doubling Distribution: A Significant Growth for Air Engineers
For the past 85 years, Air Engineers has successfully served the state of Alabama and parts of Florida. The recent contract for expansion will include the entire Tampa region down through Naples, which will effectively double the number of HVAC units the company distributes.
Air Engineers’ President Gil Murdock shared that this expansion is expected to boost the company’s overall revenue by 20% immediately, with the potential for it to increase by as much as 40% within the next three years, and as much as 75% to 80% over the next five years. “It’s going to be very rapid growth given the size and scale of that market,” he noted.
Job Creation with New Expansion
This expansion is not just significant for revenue; it is also poised to create employment opportunities. Murdock anticipates that Air Engineers will add approximately 10 to 20 jobs at its Birmingham headquarters and around 20 jobs in its new Florida locations. The company currently operates three offices in Alabama and six in Florida, demonstrating its commitment to local job growth.
Challenges in the HVAC Market
The Heart of the Business: Residential Clients
A significant share of Air Engineers’ business is derived from residential customers, with about 80% to 85% of its revenue stemming from this market. The company also serves commercial HVAC clients, ensuring a broad base of operations.
A Commitment to Family-Owned Values
Operating in Birmingham as a family-owned business for nearly nine decades, Murdock emphasized the rarity and value of maintaining a family-operated enterprise in today’s corporate landscape. “The fact that we want to remain family-owned is very meaningful to a lot of these dealer clients who are seeing other distributors and manufacturers become very corporate, very cold and move to become larger,” he said. “It is just so rare to have in this day and age a third-generation company that is continuing to thrive and remain in the community they’ve always been.”
Looking To The Future
As Air Engineers sets its sights on this new chapter of growth and expansion, residents can expect exciting developments in both job opportunities and services in the HVAC market. The company’s longevity and commitment to community and customer service have positioned it as a stalwart in the industry.
With plans for growth firmly in place, the company illustrates what it means to adapt and thrive in the ever-evolving landscape of business while maintaining strong ties to its community roots.
