According to Sergeant LaQuitta Wade of the Birmingham Police Department, the victims—a man, a woman, and two juveniles—were traveling in their SUV when someone from another vehicle opened fire on them. Following the shooting, first responders from the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service quickly transported the injured parties to local hospitals for treatment. The man and one of the children were taken to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital, both suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. However, in a worrying turn of events, the second child was reported to have life-threatening injuries and was taken to Children’s of Alabama for urgent care. Thankfully, the woman, who was also part of the group, was unharmed during the incident.
