Birmingham Experiences Gunfire Incident, Leaving Three Injured

Birmingham, AL – An investigation is underway following an alarming incident that occurred on Tuesday night in the 1400 block of Third Avenue West, where gunfire erupted, leaving three individuals injured, including two children. The distressing events unfolded just before 8:15 p.m., drawing the attention of local law enforcement and emergency responders.

According to Sergeant LaQuitta Wade of the Birmingham Police Department, the victims—a man, a woman, and two juveniles—were traveling in their SUV when someone from another vehicle opened fire on them. The SUV, carrying this family, was struck at least a dozen times, showcasing just how serious the situation was. Initial reports indicate that the Shot Spotter technology registered approximately 20 rounds fired during the incident.

Following the shooting, first responders from the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service quickly transported the injured parties to local hospitals for treatment. The man and one of the children were taken to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital, both suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. However, in a worrying turn of events, the second child was reported to have life-threatening injuries and was taken to Children’s of Alabama for urgent care. Thankfully, the woman, who was also part of the group, was unharmed during the incident.

The incident on Third Avenue has left many in the community concerned. Residents and onlookers expressed feelings of shock and fear, emphasizing that an event like this is rare in their neighborhood.
