Birmingham, AL – Excitement is building as the countdown begins for the 2024 BroadwayWorld Birmingham Awards. Theater lovers across the region have just two weeks left to submit their nominations for this year’s awards, which spotlight local productions and performances. The nomination period will remain open until October 31, 2024.
The 2024 Regional Awards will celebrate productions that had their first performance from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024. Community members are encouraged to nominate their favorites in various categories, which are determined by editors from BroadwayWorld. Once nominations are submitted, the editorial team will review the list for eligibility and correctness.
After the nomination window closes, voting will open in early November and will continue through the end of December. Winners will be announced in January, celebrating the outstanding talent and creativity within the Birmingham theater scene.
This year’s awards show is already shaping up to be bigger than ever, with participation from a record number of cities across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Australia. Avid theatergoers will find a wealth of productions to choose from as they prepare their nominations.

Mark your calendars! The American Theatre Guild is set to present Broadway’s favorite razzle-dazzle smash hit musical, CHICAGO, from November 19 to 24, 2024, at the BJCC Concert Hall. This will be the kickoff production for the 24–25 Broadway in Birmingham Series, promising an exciting lineup for theater enthusiasts.
Additionally, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival is gearing up for its adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, running from November 21 to December 29, 2024. This production, adapted by Rick Dildine, aims to bring the holiday spirit to life as it runs through the festive season.
The BJCC Concert Hall will also feature three national touring Broadway shows—THE BOOK OF MORMON, HAMILTON, and WICKED. Single tickets are now available, providing a fantastic opportunity for local audiences to experience some of the most acclaimed productions on the stage.
