Birmingham Entrepreneur Brings New Orleans’ Authentic Creole Flavors to Tuscaloosa

Jason Perryman Expands His Business Empire into Tuscaloosa

A Birmingham entrepreneur who has been building up a small but steadily growing business venture is setting foot in Tuscaloosa. Jason Perryman, the proprietor of Creole Connection, is all set to introduce residents to his authentic New Orleans-style restaurant downtown.

Perryman opened his maiden restaurant venture in Birmingham last October and now, barely six months later, he is eager to build on the success and expand his culinary footprint into Tuscaloosa and beyond.

Resilience and Determination: The Journey of Jason Perryman

With no family safety net to rely on after the passing of his parents, Perryman had to build his business from the ground up. Starting off in the trucking industry, Perryman eventually pivoted to entrepreneurship and launched his own company, Perryman Enterprises LLC, in 2019.

Jason Perryman, along with his wife, Mia, also manages a daycare in Birmingham. In 2022, they decided to explore the restaurant industry, finally kicking off their culinary venture, Creole Connection, last year. Perryman partnered with Chef Alexis Howard, also known as Chef Too, translating his love for food into a successful business.

From Trucking to the Kitchen: A Love for New Experiences

Driven by a passion for learning and exploring new horizons, Perryman has enjoyed the transition from trucking to the culinary world. Despite encountering a few business slumps initially, he has navigated the ups and downs and is currently focused on expanding Creole Connection.

A Unique Culinary Venture: Creole Connection

Perryman promises to bring something different to Tuscaloosa, taking over the space once occupied by Reggae Flava. His restaurant is set to introduce locals to a distinctive Creole cuisine, with an entire menu and full-service bar featuring a New Orleans twist.

Perryman aims to open as many as 10 locations for his restaurant brand, with sights set on Huntsville for the potential third spot. His primary focus, however, is authenticity. The restaurant will be serving Andouille sausage in all red bean and rice and gumbo offerings, as well as favorites like dirty rice, Catfish Orleans, po’boys, pastas, and a special seasonal gumbo. A vibrant brunch menu will also be available to patrons.

Coming Soon to Tuscaloosa: Creole Connection

As of now, dining enthusiasts in Tuscaloosa will have to wait until Perryman finalizes his health department and city inspections before embarking on his culinary journey at Creole Connection. With plans set for a summer opening, Tuscaloosa citizens should brace themselves for a new and tantalizing culinary hotspot in the heart of their city.
