Birmingham Sees Major Drug Bust: Two Arrested, Narcotics and Firearms Seized!

In a significant operation highlighting community effort and law enforcement collaboration, Birmingham, Alabama, has experienced a major drug bust that led to the arrest of two individuals suspected of drug trafficking. The operation, orchestrated by the Jefferson County Narcotics Unit along with specialized teams, came about in response to numerous complaints from residents about illegal drug activities in their neighborhoods.

A Community Response

The traffic stop that led to this bust was executed on a Gray Chevy Tahoe in the 1600 block of Alabama Avenue, where law enforcement’s keen eyes detected suspicious activity. The two suspects have been identified as Jarrod Artez Hill, 32, and James Mosely Wallace, 31. Both men are now facing serious charges of drug trafficking and are currently being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail.

A Bounty of Narcotics

This operation uncovered a staggering amount of narcotics that raises eyebrows and concerns. Authorities seized:

  • 534 grams of marijuana
  • 770.67 grams of methamphetamine
  • 6.6 grams of cocaine
  • 34.58 grams of fentanyl/methamphetamine
  • 133 grams of promethazine
  • 2.83 grams of M30 fentanyl pills
  • 1.58 grams of ecstasy

This substantial seizure of narcotics is an alarming testament to the ongoing struggles with drug-related crime in the area. The sheer volume of methamphetamine and fentanyl found is particularly concerning, as both are notorious for their widespread abuse and dangerous effects.

Guns Confiscated as Well

As if the narcotics alone weren’t alarming enough, the operation also resulted in the confiscation of two firearms:

  • Glock 22 .40 caliber
  • Glock 20 10mm

The presence of these firearms, often used in conjunction with drug trafficking, underscores the seriousness of the situation Birmingham faces. It highlights the intersection of drugs and violent crime, a combination that worries many community members.

Community Involvement Acknowledged

Sheriff Mark Pettway and other local authorities have expressed gratitude towards the community for their involvement in reporting drug-related activities. This recent operation is a clear reminder that the community plays a pivotal role in aiding law enforcement in their battle against drugs and crime. Residents are encouraged to keep reporting suspicious activities, helping to create safer neighborhoods for everyone.
