Bessemer Drug Trafficking Bust Results in Arrests

Bessemer, Alabama – On September 19, detectives from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office made significant arrests in a drug-trafficking case that has raised concerns in the community. The operation, which was a response to a tip received through Crime Stoppers, aimed to crack down on illegal drug sales in the area.

Chase Unfolds After Traffic Stop Attempt

Detectives from the Vice and Narcotics Division, in collaboration with specialized units from the Sheriff’s Bessemer Division, attempted to pull over a suspect in the 7100 block of Aaron Aronov Drive in Fairfield. However, the suspect refused to stop, leading to a police chase that wound through the neighborhoods of Ensley and Brighton.

The pursuit came to an end when the suspect lost control of his vehicle and crashed at the intersection of 48th Street and Huntsville Avenue in Brighton. Law enforcement took the driver, later identified as 44-year-old Jarvis Anjuan Allen, into custody and transported him to UAB Hospital as a precautionary measure. After receiving medical attention, he was transferred to the Jefferson County Jail.

Passenger Flees but Eventually Returns

Accompanying Allen in the vehicle was a passenger who fled the scene on foot after the accident. That passenger, who has since been identified as 19-year-old Braylin Allen, later turned himself in to the police.

The chase not only involved the suspect’s vehicle but also resulted in damage to multiple other vehicles, including a patrol car. One individual from another vehicle impacted during the chase was taken to a local hospital for treatment, highlighting the incident’s dangerous nature.

Drugs and Weapons Seized

Upon searching the suspect’s vehicle, detectives seized a considerable amount of illegal substances. The haul included approximately 40 grams of Fentanyl, 28 grams of Ecstasy, 0.67 grams of Methamphetamine, 604 grams of Marijuana, and 9 grams of Cocaine. Additionally, law enforcement confiscated four cell phones, two digital scales, and a pistol, all of which are believed to be connected to the drug operation.

Charges and Legal Proceedings Ahead

Jarvis Anjuan Allen is now facing multiple charges, including drug trafficking and a felony charge for attempting to elude police. His bond has been set at an impressive total of over $2 million. Meanwhile, Braylin Allen is also facing charges related to the incident as the investigation unfolds.
