Birmingham startup, Acclinate, has made headlines today as the Birmingham Business Alliance (BBA) revealed that the company secured a remarkable $7M in Series A funding. Given the company’s commitment to promoting genetic diversity in healthcare, this financial boost promises to significantly expand its outreach and operations.
Acclinate, a healthcare technology enterprise, was launched in 2020 by co-founders Tiffany Whitlow and Del Smith. Born out of a drive to provide a more inclusive approach to healthcare research, Acclinate aims to enhance diversity in clinical trials, as well as empower minority populations to make informed decisions about clinical trial participation.
In order to reach more audiences, Acclinate moved its corporate headquarters from Huntsville to Birmingham in the same year of its founding. Presently, Acclinate is a tenant at The Denham Building in the thriving Parkside area of Birmingham.
In a press release issued by the Birmingham Business Alliance (BBA), the organization has revealed that Acclinate’s recent Series A funding round pulled in a whopping $7M. Co-led by Cencora Ventures with noteworthy contributions from Labcorp and Latimer Ventures, the funding round stands as a clear testament to businesses’ faith in Acclinate’s revolutionary agenda for health equity and clinical trial diversity.
“This investment marks a significant milestone for Acclinate and underscores our commitment to revolutionizing health equity and clinical trial diversity at a larger scale. With the backing of prominent healthcare organizations like Cencora and Labcorp, we are poised to accelerate tangible change in the healthcare industry and empower diverse communities to proactively manage their health” stated Del Smith, CEO and Co-Founder of Acclinate.
Steve Ammons, CEO of Birmingham Business Alliance, couldn’t hold back his excitement as well: “Our team at the Birmingham Business Alliance sincerely congratulates Acclinate on the closing of its $7 million funding round. From a founder with an idea, to technology, we support and have a tremendous appetite for businesses like Acclinate that want to scale. We keep our eyes and ears open to identify founders like Dr. Del Smith and Co-Founder Tiffany Whitlow.”
With the newly secured funds, Acclinate is set to increase its impact on clinical trial diversity and health equity. This achievement also sends a strong positive signal for the Birmingham startup landscape showing the potential for local innovation to attract significant investment.
Acclinate’s progress is a clear indicator of how local startups can revolutionize pivotal areas of our society like healthcare, armed with innovative ideas, solid management and now, sizable funding.
