Birmingham Gears Up for Día de los Muertos Número 22 Celebration

Birmingham is set to come alive with culture and colors as Bare Hands, Inc. presents its highly-anticipated Día de los Muertos Número 22 festival. This year’s celebration will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 3 PM to 11 PM, at the historic Sloss Furnaces. Known for its rich cultural significance, Día de los Muertos is a time for families to honor and remember loved ones who have passed away, and this event promises to deliver an unforgettable experience.

A Celebration Like No Other

The festival, under the sponsorship of the Rubio Law Firm, is recognized as one of the most elaborate Day of the Dead celebrations in the Southeast. Attendees can expect a wide range of activities, including large-scale art installations and vibrant performances that highlight the depth of this Mexican tradition.

This year’s event is expected to draw a large crowd, with families and friends coming together to share in a heartfelt tribute to those they have lost. The festival will showcase a variety of performances, featuring the Premier de America Mariachi, the San Francisco Xavier Ballet Folklórico, and the Danza Azteca Xochipilli. There will also be a lively New Orleans-style procession band and a special Frida Kahlo ceremony that attendees won’t want to miss.

Food, Drinks, and Shopping

Alongside the artistic attractions, attendees can savor a plethora of Latin American cuisine from a variety of local food trucks. A selection of beverages including Patrón Tequila, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and the popular Michelob ULTRA will also be available for purchase. Local favorites like Cahaba Brewing Company and Estrella Jalisco are sure to complement the culinary offerings.

One of the festival highlights will be the art market, which will feature 22 talented artists offering unique handmade goods. From jewelry to sculptures, there are plenty of shopping opportunities for those looking to take home a special memento from the event.

Fun for All Ages

The festival is designed with families in mind, as children aged 12 and under can attend for free. Tickets are available for purchase at just $15 in advance, a price that will rise to $20 on the day of the event. It’s encouraged for attendees to secure their tickets early, as the festival is expected to be well-attended.

To add even more fun to the evening, there will be face painting available from talented artists, allowing visitors to transform themselves into works of art that embody the spirit of Día de los Muertos.

Community Spirit

With an impressive array of sponsors including Buffalo Rock/Pepsi, Tequila Cazadores, and local businesses, the festival is a testament to the community spirit in Birmingham. It aims to not only celebrate the vibrant traditions of Día de los Muertos but also to foster connections among residents, reminding everyone of the importance of community and remembrance.

As the evening approaches, anticipation is building for this celebration that honors loved ones while offering a lively atmosphere for all who attend. Birmingham is ready to embrace this rich cultural experience, and residents are encouraged to come out and take part in the festivities.
